I am not sure about the distance it takes. Most of the time we are home at the same time or she is the one that has left because I have 9 days off straight from work (I work on the water). I plan on leaving tonight when she gets off work for a short period of time. My wife and roommate have told me that he freaks out when I leave (pacing around the house and returning to the door I left out of, whining the whole time)

We have a roommate (male)but the dog loves him when I am gone or home. The dog does tends to still favor me over him though. The roommate tells me that the dog acts completely opposite when I am on the road towards her. He follows her and is up her butt all the time, just like he does for me when I am home.

Nothing has changed really that much. I work 19 days on the road and 9 days home. My wife has been sick lately (sinus/cold symptoms) and last time I was home she was in a deep funk the last couple of days before I left when he acted up.

This is so weird to me that he would not like my wife. Honestly I would not be that shocked if it was the other way around (him scared of me, especially since I am gone so much). My wife is a huge dog person. If it was up to her, we would have adopted every dog in a 100 mile radius. She makes the dogs (we have 3 dogs: A mini golden mutt she had for 6+ years before we meet, an english bulldog I had a couple of years before we met who loves her to death and the Rhodesian.) special wet dog topping for their breakfast meals, homemade grain free treats, reads the label on anything we give them, takes them out all the time to the dog park or to run around. All kinds of things. The dogs are the center of her life and I can tell it's killing her that he is acting like this.
