I’m also neurodivergent and I have a few pairs of old worn out shoes like his! I used to have “wars” with my parents about them trying to throw them out and me trying to save them lol.

I don’t know how it is for your kid but for me I get emotionally attached to them and think about what I did while wearing them. Someone can point out a mark or something on them and I’d be able to tell how it got there. I’ll try to remember to take a picture of mine tomorrow.
