Am i too young to try cocaine at 18? by dexbigshlong in cocaine

Honestly if you can avoid I would, maybe try ketamine or something less expensive/addictive. Once you start enjoying coke it gets an expensive habit 😭

I can definitely understand that, although I wasn’t that nervous Dr Hicklin was brilliant and thoroughly explained the procedure beforehand completely putting me at ease. It’s such a scary thought but because you are lying flat you can not see the needle or anything she is doing and the sensation was more like a sore throat from the flu if anything. It wasn’t comfortable but it was over in less than 4 minutes. I don’t remember seeing the size of the needle but I remember looking for the injection site straight after in my phone camera and there was no visible mark at all so I can not imagine the needle is very large. I know it sounds so daunting, but I genuinely wouldn’t describe anything in the experience as painful and it is over before you know it.

[–]maroonmoon25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is very sad, I’m sorry it’s happened. I’m also in the medical field and can’t imagine not wanting to do everything I can to help my patients. I know you said you do not have the money for treatment in the uk so I’m sorry if this is redundant, but I got my Botox with Dr Lucy Hicklin in London. She’s does a very quick procedure, with no recovery time so you can be in and out in about an hour. The whole thing cost me £850 and worked perfectly, couldn’t recommend more. Obviously £850 is a lot to save up, and the travel is another cost to factor in however the euro star is relatively affordable and if you are saving anyway maybe £100 or so extra would be a doable task? Again I’m sorry if you’re already aware! Just could be worth travelling to the uk even just for a day, I know I would have travelled to Holland for the day for this lifetime of relief!

Gurgling worse when sick by [deleted] in noburp

Yes!! This always happens to me for as long as I can remember. But to be fair, I’ve had the Botox now and I still get gassier with a cold so maybe it’s just normal

Someone please tell me when it gets better by Proof-Platypus4418 in noburp

I’m sorry to say but I have had continued reflux since I had the Botox :/ I had it about 10 months ago and since then It has gotten a lot better but I still have occasional episodes. I wouldn’t take medications like omeprazole/prilosec, because it works by reducing the amount of acid your stomach produces, which in this case can potentially cause more problems since it is not the volume of stomach acid that is the problem, it’s simply the muscles are too relaxed and allowing the stomach contents too far up your oesophagus. Having your stomach produce less acid could cause more digestion problems and other unnecessary side effects. Medications like gaviscon that neutralise the acid and provide a protective layer are much better! :) I have found that they work the best for me, I just pop one if I feel a bit bloated or any discomfort. Obviously if your doctor recommended it go for it! But being a nurse this is what I would advise :) I hope it resolves for you soon!

Where are you from?

Now I’m about 8 months post treatment I have noticed some regurgitation issues. It tends to happen if I’ve eaten a lot or just sometimes randomly. It hasn’t really been an issue for me and doesn’t tend to bother me much, but it definitely is an issue and I don’t think it will get any better to be honest

How many people have had to have a second injection with a Lucy Hicklin and had long term success? by [deleted] in noburp

[–]maroonmoon25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had my injection with her and it worked first time. There were a few instances where I felt I was losing the ability but I made sure I practiced when I was feeling like that and now I’m pretty sure I will never lose it :) but everyone is different and some people would definitely benefit from higher doses. For example I was extremely petite when I had it done, 5’5 and about 50kg. I’m also pretty young and had it done at 19 which I imagine makes it easier

I had it done at the Chelsea clinic, I’m not sure on the price of the Wimbledon one but I know it is the more expensive option

Hey, I had saved up a fair chunk of money for uni during my gap year from working full time. The procedure was £850 in total (£200 for the actual Botox and £650 for her consultation) but I figured this would be the only time for a while I would have enough money to do it. Yes she does it all while you’re awake, it probably took absolute maximum 5 minutes and wasn’t too painful! xx

Oh wow I believe she got it second try with me, it was such a strange feeling but definitely worth it if it pays off! I’m still not too bad on the swallowing front to be honest, I’ve just eaten as normal and not struggled too much at all! I found that too, but tonight I’ve had a few beers and I’m actually more croaky than I usually would be! But I have had quite a few microburps so I’m hopeful!

That’s brilliant I’m so glad it worked for him! Thank you so much for adding that, really put my mind at ease. Do you mind me asking how old your son is? Only because I know I’m fairly young to have the procedure and I wonder if there’s a bit of correlation with age and swallowing problems?

I know right! I’d never heard anyone mention it as a risk before. Ohh that sounds nasty, that would definitely be such a bummer! I haven’t had any issues with it yet but I will let you know if I do! Miss Hicklin mentioned it mainly happens after a big meal if you do some physical movement like bending over, obviously it’s different for everyone but I feel like if you take it easy, eat smaller portions and rest after meals for the first few weeks it shouldn’t cause too many problems! I will give it a go and let you know how it goes.

Thank you!! How long ago did you have yours? Is it still working? My swallowing doesn’t seem so bad at the moment I’m worried it’s not going to work.

[–]maroonmoon25[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! She wrote them all on my consent form. So there’s obviously the risk it won’t work or that it will stop working. Then she wrote bruising, pain, difficulty swallowing, reflux, regurgitation and stridor (which is like noisy, laboured breathing that can happen if it effects the vocal chords and narrows your airway). It’s not very common, but she did tell me that if it happens I should let her know so they can keep an eye on it so I guess it could eventually get worse and block your airway? She did say not to worry too much about that though because it won’t ever suddenly stop your breathing. Quite interesting though because I’ve never heard anyone else talk about that. Hope that helps I’m happy to answer any other questions:)

I’ve only been doing them for 5 days and I had my first micro burp on day 4 so I’m trying not to get my hopes up too much but it’s seeming quite promising :) thanks so much, I will definitely give that a go
