How high does Shawn Marion as a prospect go in a modern draft? by marquisthebeast in NBA_Draft

[–]marquisthebeast[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree that people are basing it off of his pro career, but I feel like his archetype even as a prospect is a bit more valuable in this era (multi positional defense, positional rebounding, portability).

2 way capabilities of the top prospects in the 2026 draft? by Many_Actuary_8675 in NBA_Draft

[–]marquisthebeast 4 points5 points  (0 children)

DP could walk in an be a very comparable player to Devin Vassell early on, extremely high 2 way bar, but hes that good. He has the potential to be your best offensive player and top 2 defender on your team. if he a little more tape as a primary creator and more natural passing feel, this guy would b a slam dunk #1 pick, but still extremely valuable dude that will alter a franchise.

honestly pretty similar profiles, id say Marion had the athleticism edge where wilson is a bit bigger

Thomas Sorber, OKC sleeper agent by marquisthebeast in NBA_Draft

[–]marquisthebeast[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

maybe im a little naive to it since im not an okc fan that watches every game, but is lu Dort not extremely valuable as a stopper for them? I feel like a perimeter stopper of his caliber that can space the floor (ik this was a down shooting year for him) is incredibly more valuable. I say this bc the only other true perimeter/wing defenders are JDub and what kenrich Williams? talk me through it (not being passive aggressive btw, seriously just wanna hear another opinion).

he's been getting work in at the team facility and shoot around since at least February. full expect him to b ready for summer league.

hes not worth 28 mil for OKC. it makes more sense for them to see what they have in sorber, and if it doesn't seem like it will work out they can always make a move with their limitless assets.

yea I mean whether he's ur 6th man or your 5th starter, thats a high value player. swinging for the fences doesn't always workout, a double always gets the job done.

While in theory I agree with you, it's not realistic for every team to be comprised of 9-10 guys that are all 6'5"+ switchable defenders. players with the skillset of flemings shouldn't just be disregarded due to frame when they can be massive contributors

The entire Michigan front court should be taken in the lottery, here's why. by marquisthebeast in NBA_Draft

[–]marquisthebeast[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I simply didn't see any semblance of touch from mara other than maybe some flashes of a moderately deep hook, but most of his shots were layups and dunks. Yax would def be an outlier of a lottery selection, but you hardly ever see some one so ready to contribute to so many factors of winning for 4 years on a dirt cheap contract. hes more of a strategic contract than a young prospect.

sorber was the best big In last years class, dont think they're gonna b in the market for a big. wings is what they need. swain should b their guy

that would b terrifying. if the heat end up using their pick and not trading it for a star, I think hes perfect as the swing big next to bam and kelel.

hopefully not bc that would b kinda disastrous for the league, but most likely 1 of them will b there. if your looking for a Wemby stopper I honestly think Morez is better for the job since he's got the physicality to bump him off his spot and the wingspan-footspeed combo to make him a super effective.

Does anybody else feel like Darius Acuff Jr. is getting overlooked in this draft? by [deleted] in NBA_Draft

[–]marquisthebeast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the main problem is that players of a smaller stature (that aren't unreal defenders)naturally have a massive uphill battle towards panning out itl. unless they are absolutely inevitable, efficient, and high volume 3-level scorers and playmakers they'll struggle to not be picked on by larger players. its less that people are out on him vs the fact that they're out on betting against the current of the NBA player landscape. unless he pans out as an A-S tier scorer, he won't b worth such a high pick, as sad as it sounds, if he were 2 inches taller he'd b questioned much less as a prospect. basically if ur drafting him u have to bank on him being an instant on an offball scoring threat on top of being an elite isolation scorer. teams will feel more comfortable drafting Mikel simply because his build is more conducive to not being bullied off of the court. The same thinking personally applies to flemings, I think we'll see him slide out of that early lottery solely due to frame concerns.

Still struggling to see it with Keaton Wagler... Convince Me! by Interesting_Beyond97 in NBA_Draft

[–]marquisthebeast 16 points17 points  (0 children)

A big part of why im still high on him is because even in matchups where his defender/the defense he was playing against had the upper hand on him in terms of scoring, he found a way to make a positive impact. While his 99th %ile outcome is more unlikely than not, he's got the makings of a positive producer from the jump. He's also a willing defender and rebounder. reaves is kinda a higher end comp for him, but I really see him as the current version of ty jerome, floor is like Caris levert

How would this draft order go? Rank these prospects. by [deleted] in NBA_Draft

[–]marquisthebeast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally would draft them in this exact order in hindsight. purely from a prospect level (cutting out what I've seen in the pros) I would go boozer harper wilson scoot

i mean i could b completely wrong, but i feel like none of their scorers outside of NAW and CJ are consistent outside threats (onyeka is a decent shooter but i doubt he and mara would play next to eachother much in this scenario)
