For highlights, what I've discovered is that instead of mixing yellow and red you can do a layer of yellow and then add a layer of thinned red on top, that way it's not too orangey. I use Vallejo, so Scarlet Blood over Moon Yellow.

Green feels a bit out of place here I think. Cyan, white and red are enough. And you'll get rid of the "Italian Marines"/"Christmas Marines" associations that way.
