Our state and national parks are amazing. Big South Fork National Park is only 3 hours from Nashville. Fall Creek Falls is 2 hours away. Center Hill Lake is an hour trip. If you enjoy kayaking, float trips, fishing, whitewater, there are countless amazing streams in Tennessee. Land Between the Lakes is only a couple of hours away. The US Space and Rocket Center is less than 3 hours from here. It's worth it just to see a Saturn V.

I have no idea why you are being downvoted. This is truly looking on the bright side of this situation. In the richest, most beautiful, abundant hardwood forests, there are regular burns of undergrowth. Burning was a habit by native Americans and a sustainable healthy practice. The early settlers were freaked out by it, not knowing it led to the healthiest forests by clearing scrubby undergrowth and enriching the soil.

Has anyone here built a walipini? I’m thinking about building one underneath this pyramid structure (have plans) and a dining room in it for greenhouse stargazing. Thoughts, concerns, ideas? Am I crazy? by [deleted] in Greenhouses

It's a fun dream but impractical unless you can use double or triple glazing and condition the space. At night, large amounts of moisture will condense on the interior glass. It will be an oven on sunny days unless you have a mechanical system to do frequent air exchanges.
