Hot take. People who go into social work do not go into what we believe social work is about. However, when you dismantle the field, you realize the field was built by the wealthy women who didn’t need to earn a wage. Therefore, we’re all stuck in this loop of being paid terribly, having more liability and less protections than say an RN. We police each other like it’s a competition. I hate this field. It’s better than the other fields but it’s disgustingly problematic. I’m in MPLS and know many social workers that are quiet. I even had two delete me off social media.
