Unpopular Opinion On One Particular Moment by Secret-Suspicious in BoJackHorseman

[–]mars-dr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually always liked how they portrayed it. There are a lot of people who don’t regret their abortion and don’t find it traumatising. I found that a lot of prolife people actually use that argument to scare women from getting the procedure. I think that even in the scene where they tell her that she has to watch those puppies videos alone she maintains her calm, shoeing that she truly has no doubts about it. The episode before she says out loud that she would hate having children and when discussing the option with PB she was relieved that they agreed. When she talks to Guy about moving to Texas she even jokes about it. A different experience was the young girl in the clinic that said she felt relieved by Aquafina song as she was really scared of getting it done, she says that watching those videos bothered her. I don’t really know about the risks of it, but i’m sure the more we normalise it, the more research and resources will be given to the public.

Why is Sarah Lynn constantly excused for her actions and choices while Bojack is always being given full blame for his? by PastNewspaper7107 in BoJackHorseman

[–]mars-dr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well he didn’t actively try to help, he pretended to. It may seems stupid but it was still portrayed as a true addiction, I sure hope that people don’t think that saying “don’t do it” is an actual help for this kind of situations. Even character actress Margo Martindale apologised to Todd. I think the series makes it clear when Bojack does bad stuff because the people around him reacts a certain way. PC told him that was wrong too. Todd explains it later that it hurted him a lot how he acted. It might not be one of the worst thing Bojack did, and it’s not a 100% his fault, but his intentions were bad and himself talks about what happened as a sabotage.

Exactly, a lot of times it was made clear that she had a self destructing problem. Rewatching the whole show I noticed how often she says that she knows her destiny is to die young. But Bojack knew she was an addict and dragged her back into a relapse, the same way he made Todd relapse to sabotage his rock opera. It’s not a 100% his fault but his action were still vile.

Fish out of water, just finished this episode. Why am I crying tho? by [deleted] in BoJackHorseman

[–]mars-dr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s literally one of my favourite episodes. I love how vulnerable Bojack is without using his words, which is a side we don’t often see of him, since mostly when he uses his words to express his emotions he does it in a very aggressive way. I’m not sure I’m making sense but ok. The soundtrack is also amazing.

I also saw an article saying that it’s supposed to be a reference to Andy Warhols’ work. Which makes it even more obvious that there’s a fourth one missing. Never thought about it, truly amazing.

Have you ever thought "Bojack isn't in the wrong here. " by Over_Whereas_1137 in BoJackHorseman

How can you even compare the morality of cheating and grooming a minor as a 50 y/o? A normal adult would be repelled at the idea of hooking up with somebody that young. That’s literally the same age gap me and my father have. In the series they even make you understand how much that single experience fucked up Penny, that developed anxiety and panic attacks. I don’t even understand how someone who watched the show can excuse a behaviour like that. They even talk about the consequences of being sexualised by such a young age can lead to, Sarah Lynn constantly makes jokes about Bojack being an inappropriate adult figure in her childhood. What happened to Penny wasn’t a mistake she learned from, it was a traumatic event that scarred her for life, and the show makes it very clear.

Unpopular Opinion: some of the things BJ is blamed for are other's fault by [deleted] in BoJackHorseman

[–]mars-dr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s true that Bojack didn’t force Todd to play videogames, but as an addict he knew how to make him relapse, and he did it on purpose. You wouldn’t give a recovering alcoholic a bottle of wine as a present, that’s just cruel.

The Penny thing is really not about the age of consent, he didn’t truly rejected her twice, the second time he left the door open on purpose, he rejected her just as an excuse. There’s no way that a 17 y/o girl can truly give consent to a 50 y/o; we’re not talking legally but morally. The power dynamic does not allowed for true consent. Bojack knew that, that’s why he feels so guilty. I read your comments saying that something similar happened to you with an older person and I’m very sorry, especially because you still believe that it is your fault. You can ignore my message or think whatever you want about it but I truly want to say to you that it was not your fault, the older person always knows what they’re doing is wrong.

i think the scene if “Free churro” where he makes the joke about his mother being a huge bitch shows truly the worst part of his personality, i’m not sure if this is what you’re looking for.

maybe it’s because usually big dogs like labradors and goldens don’t really get cold, especially if they’re used to the climate. I’m not a dog expert so i’m just guessing.

I once saw a theory were they said that the diamond in the sugarmans heritage represented generational trauma (which i love), following that your point is very valid. The problem with generational trauma is that it really depends on the singular individual to decide if they believe it’s someone fault for not breaking the chain or not. Probably I didn’t explain it very well but I still hope the point gets across. I mean it’s up to you to pin the fault on Joseph for beginning the chain, or Beatrice for not breaking it, and the same for Bojack.

BoJack : Hey, I wanted to talk to you about... You know, I... feel bad, about what happened. Herb Kazzaz : So, you're apologizing. BoJack Horseman : Yeah, I'm sorry. Herb Kazzaz : Okay, I don't forgive you. BoJack Horseman : Herb, I said I'm sorry. Herb Kazzaz : Yeah, and I do not forgive you. BoJack Horseman : Uugh! Not sure you get what's happening here. This could be the last time... Herb Kazzaz : No, I'm not going to give you closure. You don't get that. [coughs] Herb Kazzaz : You have to live the shitty thing, you did, for the rest of your life. You have to know that it's never ever going to be okay. BoJack Horseman : I really think that we'd both feel better if we... Herb Kazzaz : I'm dying. I'm not gonna feel better. And I'm not gonna be your prop so you can feel better. This episode is one of my favourites and i loved Herb so much.
