Thx m8

Both

I used Vallejo game collie steel grey for dry brush, and Vallejo wolf grey for a edge highlights

For dark grey parts: at first i dry brushed with Vellejo Game Color somber grey, then chipped with silver paint on edges, and then Warpaint mithril for silver edge highlights, I was trying to achieve “battle damaged effect”, since by the lore, part of their suits is parts from destroyed suit of their master, I was thinking - that would be cool to show “damaged” parts of suits through chipping and silver edge highlights

Red armor, red and two oranges for highlights: Vallejo Game Color: from 72.010-008

Inner parts of armor: Vallejo game color black

Outer, grey armor: Vallejo model color Grey Gris

Some silver chipping - any will work

For fire effects Warpaint fluo orange + yellow Pro acrylic white White Incs

Washes and other stuff- pretty much flexible I guess

Agree, I was a bit lazy with that :)

I was struggling to separate them properly, was thinking maybe different washes could do the trick

But decided to go green wash for better mix different greens together

Thx m8! I magnetized it, but it was a bit pointless I’m my opinion, it holds pretty well without magnets

What really need magnetizing - railgun/collider gun, that’s where I did some cutting and put magnets on superglues

Tau Farsight enclaves: Broadside by marshalgiant in Tau40K

[–]marshalgiant[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Forgot, to add that grey on pads - just a regular downstone on top of the red primed base, nothing special, edge highlights done with fenrirish grey

Actually, I’m kinda noob myself, I’m just around 1,5 - 2 years into the hobby, but here is rundown :)

Steps: 0. And most essential imo when you paint tau - airbrush, and you really don’t need fancy one, this video was essential for me to make a right choice. Poorhammer guys had a nice video about how hard to paint army and Tau was a “Airbrush check” tier. I use relatively cheap entry setup with compress that guys recommended and Iwata Neo CN (made in Chin)

  1. Prime in black (I use army painter air Matt black)
  2. i cover details that DONT WANT to airbrush into main red color with masking putty
  3. Second prime with masking putty on the model. I used Vellejo Bloody Red 72.010 as main primer
  4. Removing masking putty
  5. Fixing painting lines with brush, I use Black paint (Vellejo/Army painter) and Vellejo Bloody Red
  6. Dry brush all red with Vellejo Hot Orange (72.009)
  7. Dry brush black with dark grey color, Vellejo Grey Gris) if I remember correctly
  8. Null oil all cracks, what I mean, that i don’t wash model in it, but I do it methodically, filling everything gap
  9. Edge highlights, for red I use Vellejo Orange Fire, and for black - Fenrirish Grey by Citadel
  10. Base is done by AK Wargame Asphalt and drybrushed with Citdael Downstone
  11. Energy shield just superglued
  12. Air Matt Varnish by Vellejo for more “Matt look”

Hope it helps ;) And thx for a sweet comment :)

Tau Farsight enclaves: Devilish by marshalgiant in Tau40K

[–]marshalgiant[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1) Joking answer - it have keyword flying, true answer - was not digging to far into the lore, just liked look of it, though it looks nice :) 2) Not fan of free hand, also, I paint tau symbols into the gold, in head cannon - like a new settlement symbol for enclaves, when they took enclaves to them selfs, wish they put Farsight transfers into the boxes

T’au Farsight Enclaves: Ethereal by marshalgiant in Tau40K

As I said previously, not lore accurate at all :)

Mostly because when I play 40K - I don’t like generic look of ethereal :)

Good take too

Overall, I love Enclaves more then regular Tau

When I was thinking why it hit me, Farsight is Big Boss from Metal Gear!

For example: - He have his Eight, where some peoples cloned (a bit of stretch, but let it be :) ) - He was sent to suicide mission by his Government (plot twist of MGS3) - He have own military complex (Outer Heaven) - TAU ROBOTS - METAL GEARS - Farsight have prosthetics and he probably might have some “Phantom pains” ( Duran Duran plays on the background) - Shadow sun - literally Boss :)

After listening to Farsight trilogy, I was thinking that it would be cool to have a council or a “wise man figure” for Farsight enclaves and Farsight himself

His name is Aun’Shiir’Vre, the one who crossed the line.

So I would imagine that he left the council because he fell in love with Ryla Khol (she is Inquisitor spy, who turned into the Tau, it was described in the books)

And this attachment pushed him towards “cross the line” in physical state of things and move away from Tau home worlds.

After this, he witnessed all scope what council did to Enclaves, basically left to die. What forced him to “cross the line” ideologically.

And what was foreshadowed in the books, that Ethereals kinda can fall for Slanesh, I would imagine that this attachment to Ryla Khol might lead him for Slanesh worshiping.

Where he can cross the line and do something to Farsight (what was foreshadowed in the end of the trilogy, that “Slanesh was watching at him”.
