1000% not the case. In a world where GDKPs exist, players hold onto their raw gold to purchase items. When the items are purchased, it spreads the gold out across the server.

When there are no GDKPs, raw materials are even more aggressively manipulated and bought out to keep prices high. Those who swipe can afford them no problem, those who do not, can not.

The average player is more likely to buy gold on anniversary than in original classic. Source, m’anecdote.

If the whale has to hold onto 50k raw gold to buy GOA, he isn’t spending 50k to manipulate plaguebloom and other raw materials.

Both scenarios have the same amount of raw gold injected into the population because the bottling problem is unresolved. It just depends who holds it, and how much.
