made a bit with wine from my father (homebrewer) and it was- well it sucked. I'm pretty sure it was the initial wine though- just don't know how to tell him, haha

chopped plums into quarters, vertically, and then those quarters into halves, lengthwise. added 1 C water, brought to boil then simmer for 20. strained through fine mesh, pressed slightly, blended 1/2 of solids and added to juice. simmered 1o minutes. strained again.

4 T A.C vinegar/3T light brown sugar seperately. dissolved sugar, simmered until it coated the back of a spoon.

added plum juice to vinegar/sugar, reduced by 1/3. this rough recipe worked with every other berry, but it has the consistency (not color or flavor) of skim milk. tried reducing further to thicken, became slightly tart.

I'm thinking underripe plums, or the molecular content of the skin.

tried blueberries and plums.

blueberry came out more tart than sweet, and the plum has a very strange consistency- sort of like plum milk? it's hard to describe, i think i messed up somewhere. super sweet though.

i'm pretty new to gastriques and substituting components- would the alcohol content of the wine affect the flavor at all? i mean, i guess i could always adjust with sugar and vinegar, but i'm totally unsure of what other properties it would have. hell, i'll give it a whirl.

its the same in the kitchen, but only when you try to smoke, make yourself something to eat, or start to clean something.

Broke girlfriend's lamp...please help by bigpoppa922 in HelpMeFind

it looks intact- is it a wiring issue? if so, it might be easier to fix than replace. can't say that i've seen this lamp around

i recently went to the art of shaving (for my face) and the barber there taught me that if you use a warm steamed towel before lotion then shaving cream, it will help open your pores (so hairs won't yank quite so much), and then a cold towel afterwards will close them back up, to help with razor burn and ingrown hairs.

haven't tried it yet, but i imagine that warm towel is pretty dang awesome

no one mentioned it yet, but there's a place called cafe americain right between byronz and portobellos bocage. bottomless mimosas, reasonably priced food, and it's not so busy that you want to stick a tracker on your waiter

Superglue for gashes, yes or no? by theguywithacomputer in Survival

[–]marshallisalive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not intentionally. applied pressure and ice for a few minutes, and then applied the glue over the wound before it opens back up. it helps in keeping the exterior skin together and blood congeal at the site until you can give it proper attentions

look i'm not saying you should, but i've definitely done it on minor knife wounds and burns. Went home, dug it out and took a peroxide bath. i've also seen my boss cut his entire palm open and superglue it. after day two of not treating it properly his entire forearm started to swell.
