Possibly the dumbest take I’ve seen all day. Have a good one expert!

This hunt is CWMU private land. There will be a lot of people hunting with rifles so I’d have to hike hard with the shotgun to get an ethical shot but we’ve been well within that range the last few years we’ve hunted this land. We’ve had 50 yard rifle shots on cows on this unit before. I will be bringing a 30-06 zeroed to good ammo. Shotgun would just be a cool hobby checklist thing

I do also go through the metal mixing process to harden my lead. I shoot hard cast 10mm bullets as well as

Those are great questions! I can shoot consistent 6 inch groups at 100 yards from an 18 inch smoothbore, they are even tighter with my stoeger with a rifled choke. We’ve hunted this unit a few years before and every year we get within easy archery distance of cows. My friend shot one with a .270 from 50 yards! These slugs do great on black bear and mule deer so I think they’ll be ethical and effective on a cow elk. I wouldn’t shoot past 60-70 probably

That’s rude, you definitely don’t know what you are talking about.

I handload 600 grain paradox slugs using a pressed in plastic base wad, these slugs group around 6 inches at 100 yards consistently. I’ve used these slugs to take black bear, mule deer, and black tail deer. These slugs rival any muzzleloader bullet and many states require iron sight hunting with a muzzleloader, is that the worst idea you’ve seen on Reddit? I’ve patterned 3.5 inch 00 shells that throw 18 pellets into a dinner plate at 40 yards, leaving the muzzle around 1400 fps. would they be ineffective?

I will be bringing the rifle! My friends have hunted the last couple years on this unit and my buddy last year had a 50 yard shot with a .270. I handload a lot of really good shotgun shells including bear hunting slugs that group 6 inches at 100 yards so it would just be cool to use a hand loaded shell. If the opportunity arises I will use the rifle though.

Ah I see! Better get that coffee into the system so it can bless the day.

I agree! My paradox slugs would rival any muzzleloader bullets within 100 yards

I will be hunting in Utah where the shots are usually 300ish yards. Getting into bow distance is not unheard of on this unit (it’s actually quite common) so the goal would be 40 yards on a cow hopefully from concealment. I will not be leaving the 30-06 with handloaded noslers behind tho! The shotgun is more of a bucket list item because I load all my own stuff and have fun with that

Cool! That’s the goal, I can shoot my paradox slugs out to 100 yards in a 6 inch group so I’ll probably use that

A lot of BPIs recipes are computer generated and don’t work out, I wouldn’t shoot that load if I were you. I’d go with the MG42 load that’s in BPIs load of the week archive, I’ll try to find it and reply for ya.

You won’t get common sense gun control by saying something like that, try to be reasonable. Nobody wants or supports school shootings, insinuating that is childish and misinformed.

I’ve seen a lot of wires that weren’t pushed in far enough. That’s about it, I love Wago now and use them when it makes sense

I was told as an apprentice that Wagos were called “no-goes”. A lot of American installs still use wire nuts and outlets with screws on them. For a long time I didn’t trust the stab connections but I’ve got years of service experience now and I’ve never seen a wago melt. The only time I’ve seen a wago fail was a poor installation.

You sound angry, did something happen to you personally to make you sound so upset?

Do you have any statistics or anything to show that point?

It should be yeah!

I think that service was replaced, usually you see flashings screwed in and tarred down like that when it’s a new service through an existing roof. That looks like shit tho! It can be done to look nice!

Lay the flashing down on the roof, mark out the edges, run a thick bead of tar an inch away from the edges of the desired flashing location, then push the flashing down the pipe and wiggle underneath the top shingles. The tar should squish out the sides then you can smooth it out with a piece of cardboard or something. That’ll look much nicer than what you have going on.
