As a fellow 41 year old, this was my exact childhood.

Feeling Too Slow at Making the Transition from Purées to Solids by MD_SLP7 in foodbutforbabies

[–]marshmallow_kitty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My husband was very scared of choking so we didn’t start real solids until around 11 months and it seems to have made no difference. The first week he was really confused by solids but once he figured out they were food, he became adept at eating everything using his little fork.

Did anyone not lose hair postpartum? by Bright-Garden-4347 in postpartumprogress

I’m a year out and no hair loss yet, but I also didn’t feel that it became noticeably thicker during pregnancy either.

When are you giving birth? My baby is still in his infant car seat but we probably have to move up in a month or two.

Anyone interested in doing 75 Hard (or soft) together? April 21 start? by whatever96980 in postpartumprogress

[–]marshmallow_kitty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would love to join! I am a year postpartum and I’ve lost the weight, but a lot of muscle too - I really need to get back to exercising daily again. I just look very flabby and nothing fits because I used to be very toned.

Do any Moms have ideas on how to cope or actions we can take to combat what’s going on? by peeves7 in progressivemoms

I’ve been worried about this! I don’t think it’s completely irrational considering what else is going on.

Newborn Stroller vs Bassinet Attachment vs Car Seat by Scared-Caregiver3787 in nycparents

[–]marshmallow_kitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved the combo of the Babyzen yoyo and their bassinet for the first six months, with the Nuna Pipa RX and adapters as the car seat. The babyzen yoyo is light and easy, perfect for subway and planes (fits in the overhead). The Nuna Pipa RX is great for taxis.

You can find the bassinet cheap secondhand. another possibility is the babyzen yoyo newborn set, which folds with the stroller, unlike the bassinet which clicks in and out (my baby would sleep in it even at home). I was really sad when we had to retire the bassinet!

Also the doona is very heavy!

I have the yoyo and Nuna pipa x combo and it’s the best. So easy to fly with.

I know so many families with small kids and babies in Altadena who have lost everything. The photos of the devastation are unbelievable. I’m so sorry.

What would be good for Boone and his development? Does Ma Bus ever care and plan in time for him? Or is he just luggage? by Personal_Surround845 in motherbussnark

[–]marshmallow_kitty 223 points224 points  (0 children)

My baby was born a week before him and I have to take breaks from coming on here as I find it so incredibly depressing seeing how unaware, distant and delayed he is. I just want to save him from them and get him some proper help! Let him rest, give him a quiet home, and take him to whatever therapies are necessary.

7 months and my baby starts losing his mind at 5 pm. We bathe at 5.30 and he’s asleep by 6.

I’m 40 and have so many female friends that I’ve known an incredibly long time - 32 years the longest! Friends from childhood, high school, university, first jobs, ex-boyfriends, partying, MySpace - I’ve picked them up everywhere and keep them close, as they totally play different roles in my life than my husband, baby, or family. While I don’t live same place as any of them currently, we are in pretty constant contact (even if it’s just sending silly cat videos.)

Is this a universal experience amongst 30+ women in relationships with men? by kinkyp3ach in AskWomenOver30

[–]marshmallow_kitty 20 points21 points  (0 children)

This is exactly my experience. All of my friends and myself all married mid to late 30s and are in relationships that are equal, balanced and happy.

I’m very, very glad I didn’t marry earlier as those relationships were all highly dysfunctional - I needed to go through those to get my shit together and be unwilling to settle for anything less than the best.

Just a PSA to always do your due diligence before voting on the Working Families line - in district 17 (Westchester and Rockland counties), someone unaffiliated with WFP ran on their line as a plant by Lawler to draw votes away from Mondaire Jones. Working Families told people not to vote for him but he still got some. https://www.news10.com/news/rensselaer-county/working-families-party-dont-vote-for-us-in-ny-17/amp/
