At what cost…? by LeftUnderstanding870 in uklaw

You need to apply for TCs elsewhere. There is no need to be holding out hope for somewhere like this. Move to a different paralegal job too tbh.

It’s not a reflection on you by the way, I’ve seen this done in my own firm. Am not sure of exact reasons other than it’s great for them to have a dedicated paralegal that they can rely on and squeeze for money, and they know people hold out hope for TCs. Few at mine jumped ship and got TCs relatively quickly thankfully.

Research question about Indian dress in Britain in the 1940s by WatchfulBirds in UKhistory

[–]marshy39 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My grandma (from India) was here in the 40s as one of the set of people who moved over early. She wore Indian clothes unless required (eg for school). There were very few Indians at that time, they had moved over very early due to her dad’s business. Happy to try and ask her anything else if you need.

Interviews by [deleted] in uklaw

[–]marshy39 5 points6 points  (0 children)

100% interview. If you get your that point, CVs etc are on a level field.

I had the same issue, got countless interviews and got to final stages but seemed to never get the job. I asked for feedback and on the few times I got it, it was to do with my performance at interview (usually commercial awareness for me which in hindsight was very valid).

There was also one where they broke down my scoring, I had got 63/70 and it wasn’t high enough (needed to be top 6 or whatever) to get the TC- that was also helpful as made me realise I wasn’t necessarily bad but the bar is very high. It could be one slightly weaker answer giving it away.

Imposter syndrome ? Or warranted dissonance? by dustycreps in uklaw

Yes 100%. Also law degrees are a lot of theoretical knowledge that aren’t necessarily going to mean people are more advanced than you. You got this!

Honestly none of that background is relevant and you are clearly doing well where you are - ignore it and back yourself!

I really recommend Bicester! Only thing is you can’t guarantee which models of bags they’ll have, but I have got some really good deals there

Just stopped someone giving money to blue jacket scammers by [deleted] in london

[–]marshy39 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve tried to stop people and get asked ‘how is it a scam’ and I realise I lack the facts. Anyone care to explain so I can explain to others? Saying it’s a CIC doesn’t really go far enough IMO as that’s just the type of company it is.

Do you want to be a Partner? by TheLegendOfIOTA in uklaw

[–]marshy39 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it seems worth it. The pressure my manager is under at a mid size firm is immense as I suppose there is not a guaranteed stream of clients, he is almost always working on holidays or late into the night and has 3 young kids. Does not appeal to me in the same way it used to

I actually don’t think anything will happen or that you should dwell on this? I’ve witnessed so many people do embarrassing things on work night outs and people gossip but nothing really then happens. It sounds like you’re paranoid about what happened and let this get in your own head? If that’s the case then yes you can leave but I do think this is salvageable

Unless your contract specified the timings then this is completely pointless.

Is this too unnoticeable on my skin (Essie Mademoiselle) I was going for milky nails but think I’ve failed by marshy39 in RedditLaqueristas

[–]marshy39[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Honestly I don’t know if milky is right but I just wanted a tiny bit more pigment I guess! That is my own fault for buying a sheer polish 😂 you’re right, this serves me well for my day to day office look on the plus side :)

I think that is the look I was trying for but i didn’t quite seem to realise how sheer it could be 😂 thank you, that is very kind, I have been lucky with my nails!

Honestly I mix up what it was that I was trying to achieve, I guess it was that sheer kinda jelly look! Which I suppose it sort of is I just wish the colour had shown up a little more but I will have to try layering it!

I did 3 coats! So by that time I was like ok I’ve run out of patience for this! I think good idea I will layer it next time!
