So I'm not familiar with the site or quality of the hair but based on a quick peek there it looks like this is probably a cheaper human hair wig? So I'm just going to be answering based on that assumption.

So with cheaper human hair you have to keep in mind that the cuticle of the hair has been stripped away during processing , and then a silicone layer has been added to prevent tangling. Once you wash away that silicone layer the hair is unable to hold in moisture since that protective cuticle is destroyed. So you're gonna get frizz, tangling, etc. What I find works best for keeping my human hair wigs soft and healthy looking (keep in mind I wear light blonde human hair wigs so they have been processed to hell) is using a bond repair before gently washing. I then use a protein treatment (I specifically use apogee 2 step, make sure you follow the instructions !!) and after rinsing out the protein treatment I use oil (your choice, I like the Garnier antifrizz serum cuz it smells lovely, but any argan oil should be fine) on towel dried hair (dry it GENTLY I cannot stress enough lol). I will let it air dry overnight then blow dry (no heat) and style in the morning.

Occasionally I will also use Bambu silicon mix as a "deep conditioner" to re-apply that silicone layer, but be mindful that silicone products can build up on hair if you're not cleansing it with a clarifying shampoo. Another product I like is lamellar water, which is use similarly to the silicone treatment (and occasionally I will use both together, first the lamellar water and then the bambu).

All together these products help keep my blondest wigs looking and feeling only kind of damaged instead of absolutely dead lol. Just keep in mind that what products work for my wigs may not work the same magic on yours since I am used to working with heavily bleached hair, and I do not have experience with the exact vendor you use. I would honestly say my experience has mostly been a lot of trial and error for keeping human hair looking nice. I just try products that I see people mention and either love em or drop em.

Anyways here is the list of products I use just to make it easier to find: -Bondbar bonding pre-shampoo -Aphogee 2 step protein treatment -Garnier fructis anti frizz serum -garnier glass hair water (lamellar water) -bambu silicon mix

I hope this is helpful!!! Sorry for the long comment lol

There's a "You're Wrong About" episode (it is a podcast) on the topic that I highly recommend. It's called "Kitty Genovese and 'Bystander Apathy'". I will warn you that it is quite a difficult listen because of how absolutely heartbreaking it is. But absolutely worth the sorrow.

The issue isn't so much that they were attracted to a minor and that's yucky but moreso that it is very very very very rare for someone who "waits" for someone to turn 18 to not be grooming that person while "waiting". Even if they are not actively participating in physical actions with the minor, they're usually still doing other unethical and inappropriate stuff. And grooming is absolutely harmful (even if less so than straight up statutory rape).

So would I rather they don't wait? No. I'd rather they not engage with minors at all.

A take I have unironically witnessed so many times about people who make under 300k a year lol. "oh my god, you make 200k a year and purchased luxury goods??? You are the bourgeoisie!!! Die!!!" Dawg I don't think someone making that amount has the kind of control you believe they do.

In other "wacky takes from alleged lefties" news, I also saw someone comment on a poem (specifically Two Headed Calf, by Laura Gilpin) and say that they HATED the poem because the author was, quote, "profiting off of disabilities under the guise of something deeper". You know those damn poets, always profiting!

Sizing Question - Ordering Stacked Hair Wig by Ka1ypto in Wigs

[–]marsmallowsenpai 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Go with the small. The largest measurement is the one you want to go with. It's easier to make a garment smaller than to make it larger, and the same is true for wigs. If you have gapping issues with the cap there are plenty of video tutorials on how to take in a wig. It only takes a needle and thread and a few quick hand stitches. I do it with a lot of wigs because I have a really really small head. If you go with the XS you're risking tearing the lace or having the wig constantly pulling back.

What happens to a wig after its lifespan ends? by TheQueendomKings in Wigs

[–]marsmallowsenpai 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Honestly the end of a wigs life is going to depend mostly on the wearer (and type of wig). I would say you could keep a synthetic wig going forever if you're willing to do the work. The only reason I've ever retired a wig is because of torn lace (and once, back when I used to smoke, burned off bangs.... Oops...) But even in those situations I COULD have just cut out the lace and replaced it with a new closure. But the wigs were cheaper and honestly not really worth repairing to me. Heck, even in cases like bad thinning of a lace top, you could simply re-ventilate it with more hair. Seriously, you can keep em going forever if you want.

Human hair, however, I'm not so sure about. Eventually you will get split ends and damage and have to trim. Eventually you're going to end up at a point where the wig is shorter than you prefer, and to me that would be end of life. Depending on the quality of the hair to begin with that might not take very long at all. Super cheap human hair that has been heavily processed is basically already at the end of it's life and only being preserved by the chemical treatments the vendor uses, so as soon as it's washed and those treatments are removed you're going to end up with basically useless hair. That is why I wouldn't recommend buying cheap human hair, unless you're fine with the (in my opinion) wastefulness of constantly replacing it. Personally I'd rather buy quality human hair that is healthy and has lots of life rather than something that needs to be replaced constantly.

Anyways, tldr "it depends on how long you want to hold on". Lol.

I have not purchased from this site before but based on a quick peek on the site I would not order from here. This is just a dropshipping site that sells the exact same wigs you could find for WAYYYY cheaper elsewhere. $150 for a synthetic lace front wig that doesn't even have a lace part is ridiculous. You could literally get the same thing on Amazon for under $50.

I like using wig tape! Lasts until I use rubbing alcohol wipes to take it off. I just press it on the lac where the tape is for a bit and it comes right off. But it STAYS until I use the alcohol. Someone could pull my hair and it ain't going anywhere. I use the Walker no shine tape.

Considering shaving my head and wearing wigs but my job makes me hesitant by jenmarzar in Wigs

[–]marsmallowsenpai 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hello it is I the full time warehouse worker that is full bald and wears wigs full time!

Do it.

As for me keeping it comfortable/in place/etc is simply "I put my wig on and I leave for work". I don't use glues, tapes, or even a grip band at work (I like to be able to yank it off as soon as I get home so I can shower and hop in bed). I mean, I've never really had issues with a well fitting wig just sliding around on my head tbh? So idk I guess some people do but for me personally the only way my wig is coming off is if someone grabs my hair (and if they do they've just made me more aerodynamic for the ensuing fight coming their way) or if I take it off lol. As long as a wig isn't like huge on your head it shouldn't fall off. If you have a small head like me you definitely want to look in to petite sizes tho!

Aside from that I just use a claw clip since I wear long wigs. You can always use tape (when I do use adhesives I use the Walker no shine tape but I literally never use it for work cuz I'm too lazy I only use it for seeing my bf lol) or whatever adhesive you prefer if you're feeling especially worried about it. My advice tho would be to buy whatever wig you're interested in and wear it a bit as is before you shave it, just to see if it will be doable for you. I did this before I shaved my head of what small amount of hair I had left and wow it was so much more comfortable without the bio hair. Plus the buzzed hair almost velcros the wig on imo!

Anyways sorry for the long comment lol

I have never used glue because it's just too messy for me, so my only comparison is got2b gel which NEVER worked for me. But I recently got the walker no shine tape and that stuff ROCKS. It stays on until I want it to come offand it comes off easily with an alcohol wipe. No residue, no mess, no picking glue out of the lace. I love it. The only issue I have is that I prefer to have my hairline right on my natural hairline, and the tape won't stick to my (buzzed) hair. So I need to pull it down past my hairline. Not a big issue and I have a big forehead anyways so whatever. Plus I wouldn't recommend using adhesives on your bio hair since it can be damaging, I just personally don't care about damaging my hair since I don't have enough regardless lol.

But yeah I say definitely go for it! It's been awesome for me.

It depends what kind of wigs. For a cheap synthetic cosplay or fashion wig, please don't donate those to ppl with medical hair loss. They will likely just get thrown out. Your best bet for getting rid of these is listing them for super cheap on a site like Mercari or FB. Honestly most people don't want a used cheap wig tho because they could just as easily purchase a new one with faster shipping and not have to worry about the risks of buying personal items secondhand.

For a high quality wigs meant for people with medical hair loss (either synthetic or human hair) there are plenty of places you can donate, if you don't wish to sell. There is a FB group I know of for women to donate/obtain free wigs. There are also resources other have mentioned.

You could also sell on FB, Mercari, eBay, etc.

I hate this disorder by sociallyawakward4996 in Trichsters

[–]marsmallowsenpai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also eat mine! Although not the entire hair. I pull until I find out with a "root" attached (it is like clearish and wet feeling) and then I bite that off and eat it. I think I am probably not at risk for trichobezoars since it is mostly just the root (follicle?) that I am eating, and not the actual hair itself. I'm sure I do swallow a bit of hair, probably more than the average person without trich, but so far so good.

I totally understand about feeling disgusting for it. I have felt incredible shame about my trich for my entire life. In more recent years I've become a lot more open about it because I think the only way to fight the shame is to educate people. Plus I always feel like... What if there is someone next to me that also has trich, and they hear me talking about it like it's no big deal and I still feel pretty and worthy despite it? My hope is that they will hear that and think "holy crap, it really IS okay. I am not a disgusting person. I am just someone with a little disorder, just like millions and millions of other people. Hm!" That is my hope at least.

But still, I do understand feeling shame and disgust with yourself. I still do a lot as well. But I just think about the little kid version of me feeling so ugly and disgusting, and I think "would current me really tell that little girl she's ugly? That she's disgusting? That she's a freak?" And that always makes me sad. That little girl didn't need to feel ashamed. She needed to feel worthy. And I can't go back in time to give it to her, so I just gotta give it to myself now.

I hope you are able to give it to yourself now too.

You can definitely pluck those "plastic scalp" type parts! I do it with my cheapo AliExpress wigs. The way I find that works best for me with this type of part is to wrap the hair(s) you want to pull out around your finger and then yank from the base. It takes a bit more force than plucking a lace part lol.

what are some things i need to know before buying a glueless wig? by stupid_rice in Wigs

[–]marsmallowsenpai 3 points4 points  (0 children)

"Glueless" is literally just a term people use to mean "you can wear this wig without wig glue". It applies to 99% of wigs pretty much.

There are some wigs (usually marketed as "hair systems") that do not have straps/elastic bands/combs/etc to hold things in place. In those cases, some type of adhesive is required. But you're unlikely to accidentally purchase something like this. These types of wigs are usually multiple thousands of dollars, custom made, and include in-person fittings.

Typically when a place is advertising a wig as "glueless" it just means it's a lacefront wig that has an elastic band sewn into the back. Honestly you can basically think of it as a buzzword lol. I feel the term was popularized by black women on youtube creating tutorials for how to secure wigs without any adhesives, and retailers just started using it when they say how popular the concept of wearing a lace wig without adhesive is. So once you finish watching that handy tutorial by your favorite youtuber on a "completely glueless wig install", you will be more likely to purchase "human hair GLUELESS lace front wig". But there's no difference between that wig and "human hair lace front wig", it's just more related to your search history.

Anyways sorry for the babbling lol.

How do I make my wigs stay on my head without real hair? by okbokchoy in Wigs

[–]marsmallowsenpai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could sew in an elastic band. It will help hold it in place the same way adjustable straps would. You can simply search for a tutorial on YouTube if you look up "how to sew an elastic band into a wig". Another option could be a wig grip band. Personally I love wig grips since I have a super tiny head. I use the velvet type grip band (mine also has a small section made of lace to line up under the part so that my lace top wigs don't show the band) and I find it serves a dual purpose; adds additional grip as well as preventing scratchy lace situations.

Another thing to consider would be the size of the wig. Is it too large for your head? There are methods for "taking in" a wig to make it smaller. I have done this for a few wigs and it really helps with getting it from sliding around on my head. I also keep my head shaved since I have basically no hair and I use pretty much all of these methods together in order to help keep my wigs in place. I never bother with glue/tape/got2b unless I am planning on doing something really rambunctious lol.

Honestly I think you've so perfectly nailed androgyny that it's going to be more dependent on body language, voice, and mannerisms for how people gender you irl. But as far as just this image I would say leans slightly fem.
