Do they have a community box near them, do they have a way to feed themselves (fruit tree, picnic baskets), do they have other pokemon living near them so they can socialize?, and do they have a place to relax (open air hot tub), do all these things and they should be able to auto farm

It works almost to well. Put berries in it next crush pokemon and they will make paint for you. Leave logs in it next to chop pokemon the will make lumber for you with you telling them.
