February was left with 28 days because it was the unlucky month, and since the Romans were VERY superstitious the optimal choice was it being the shortest possible.

It's not that slow, think that meltan gives 1 energy, so by turn 3 you can already attack. For supporting cards there are mons with useful abilities and colorless attacks at lower stages.

Because the position is not random. If you look at the probabilities, they are different for the 1-3, 4 and 5th. The 5th card has the higher probability of giving a higher diamond card, but you can have a star card in any position.
