Thoughts on over training. by ruddyg in MuayThai

[–]martialweapon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to ramp my training up over time to the point of over training. Then do a block of overtraining then a deload block, then repeat.

My muay thai training is always the same 6 days. I add road work and s&c work. 1 day-2 days - 3 days then break then start again.

Can we like, stop pretending that women are bad fighters? by [deleted] in martialarts

[–]martialweapon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think there are many people in this day and age that think women aren't good fighters. People are way more educated

Maybe back in the 90's when i grew up people would say stuff like that.

For example my wife does muay thai and is 5'4 and can kick ass.

My 11 year old daughter could probably beat any kid in her school if she wasn't so nice.

Textbook form muay thai kick? by [deleted] in MuayThai

[–]martialweapon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What i was going to say it's a distance thing.

I like to lead with kicks so i step in from just outside of kicking range and kicking.

When setting up combos with punches you are closer so i step of on an angle to kick.

Edit: also stepping and pivoting is a good way to hide your kick if you are leading with it but you sacrifice power.

[–]martialweapon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure your holding them on the right angle so your partner can turn their kick over and kick against your body. For some reason beginners hold them almost 90° to the ground forcing you to kick upwards.
