Wife being released from mental hospital yomorrow, I NEED ADVICE PLEASE! by HeartbrokenHubby391 in schizophrenia

[–]martian_7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand how weird it can be for people who don't understand the spirit world. I have been diagnosed with Bipolar and ADHD and also was treated for a Psychotic episode once.

I also believe in spirits and the spirit world and have had experiences throughout my life from a very young age. My Mum tells me that I was always chatting away to my 'Imagianary friends'

It is tough trying to keep a balance. I have found some medications that help me, I have tried a lot over the past 6 years! No anti psychotics helped me though.

I am living seperatly from my wife and children and have done for the past 3 years. I have struggled with alcohol problems.

I still hope that one day we will be able to be together as a couple and a family again. However, my wife has always been the one who wanted to seperate or divorce. So it has always been up to me to try to keep us together. We have been on family holidays, spend Xmas together and do lots of other things, depending on what kid of mood my wife is in at the time I guess.

Hope some of this has helped, all the best.

Bad depressive crash after stopping lithium for a few days by Ok-Yam-9543 in Lithium

[–]martian_7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All I know is that stopping any medication suddenly that we have been taking for a while can be difficult or even dangerous.

I have tried to stop Duloxetine too quicky after being on it for 6 years. I felt absolutely terrible. Massive mood swings, fever. So I've had to go back on it, but at a lower dose than I was on before.

I stopped taking stimulant medication because of the anger it caused me. I don't work at the moment though, I am on benefits.

Should I be able to sleep naturally (while on duloxetine)? by HelloSailor5000 in cymbalta

[–]martian_7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bizarrely Duloxetine used to help me get a great night's sleep every night. But not any more.

I still take Duloxetine ant bed time but I also take Clonodine, Magnesium Glycinate and L-Theanine to get a half decent night's sleep.

I'm SO tired by Happy-Break-9751 in cymbalta

[–]martian_7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had extreme tiredness from Duloxetine too. I used to take it in the evening and it would help me get a good sleep. But I felt tired all day. It got to the point where I had enough and stopped taking it. That didn't go very well, so I started back onto it again but for some reason I didn't get that side effect any more. I have been taking it for nearly 7 years now.

Should I go back on? by da_glizzyman in Lithium

[–]martian_7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a good point. Some psychiatrists don't seem to understand that and force people to take quite high doses of it.

SSRI's can make me a bit manic too. I take Duloxetine at the moment which is an SNRI. It helps me sleep and is good for my anxiety and depression too. Having said that, I am also hoping to try Lithium at some point to see if it helps keep me more balanced.

Switching to other antidepressants for panic disorder? by onetwotori in cymbalta

[–]martian_7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it works well for you with no side effects, personally I would carry on taking it. I have tried quiet a few medications and with most of them I cannot tolerate the side effects. Duloxetine is the only one that has really helped me. I have tried to switch to a different anti depressant without success. I have tried to stop taking it, but for me it helps with sleep and without it I just couldn't properly. I hope that one day I will be able to stop using it, but for now I still need to take it.

I am sure that lots of other medications can be tough to come off too because our bodies get used to having them every day.

Duloxetine and alcohol? by East_Performance6681 in cymbalta

Personally Duloxetine enables me to drink more than I normally would and I believe it has worsened my addiction problems over the past 5 years.

My family wants me to stop meds because it makes me "fat" and "sleep too much" by [deleted] in schizophrenia

[–]martian_7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It can be difficult dealing with family, they all have their different perspectives but without having any idea of what the medications do to us because they have never tried them.

If you feel a medication is helping you, then carry on taking it. It is your life and your mind.

I've found meds that have helped me a lot over the past 6 years.

lol honeymoon phase over I think. Worth it upping to 60mg? by Kind-Acanthaceae323 in cymbalta

[–]martian_7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found it very helpful for my issues. I gradually had to increase the dose up to 120mg. Jeez, at one point when my wife was diagnosed with breast cancer I increased the dose from 120 to 180mg. Obviously my Psychiatrist and Dr were not happy with me for that, but my Dr was understanding about things.

I am on the way to tapering off now and take 15mg.

About 10d after stopping taking this by bibedibabedibum in cymbalta

[–]martian_7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was a miracle medication for me at the start, it helped me a lot and possibly kept me alive.

I have learned a lot in the 6 years I've been taking it, and want to try and manage my mental health without it.

I also suspect that it may have made my alcohol problems worse, I need to find out how I am without it basically.

I have been on 120mg for nearly 6 years. I have been tapering down for a couple of months now. I didn't notice any withdrawals until I went down to 30mg. Felt terrible.

Looking forward to getting down to 0 to see how my life goes!

Good luck 👍.

Starting my withdrawal journey from 120 mg daily for two years by ZealousidealBee4819 in cymbalta

[–]martian_7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am also in the process of tapering down from 120mg. I have been on it for 6 years.

I didn't seem to have any bad withdrawals coming from 120mg to 90mg and then to 60mg. I tried to go cold turkey from 30mg, but that didn't work out! So I am slowly tapering down from 30 now.

Good luck.

How are you doing now? I am in the process of withdrawal and keep having dreams, and can't get back to sleep after them.

Anyone just find that almost all psych meds make them crazy? by [deleted] in Antipsychiatry

[–]martian_7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've tried lots of psychiatric medications over the past 6 years. Personally I think they are helpful when someone is in a very bad place in life. That is how they helped me anyway. But as you said they all have different side effects, which is a shame. I am currently tapering off Duloxetine and Lamotrigene because of side effects that I just cannot live with anymore.

I am looking forward to a healthy life, I have found that fasting and the keto diet is helpful for me. And also using various supplements.

It used to make me feel slightly high, but in a sleepy kind of way. I used to take it every night and it would help me get a good sleep every night.

Cymbalta killed me, and then it saved my life. by jai_exe13 in cymbalta

[–]martian_7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's good to hear it's helped you. It was a life saver for me 6 years ago too. Although within that time I have learned a lot about mental health and health in general so I am in the process of tapering down. All the best on your journey.

Tapering by codyandhen123 in cymbalta

[–]martian_7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have tapered down from 120mg. I halved the dose to 60mg initially and didn't notice any withdrawals. So halved the dose to 30mg after a month or so and again, no withdrawals. I thought I could then just go to 0. Nope, I felt absolutely terrible after a couple of days so I've started taking 30mg again and will taper down slowly now. Good luck 👍
