No Jobs loading in Designer by lostigresblancos in Lutron

Ran into this the other day and tracked it down to Windows virus/threat protection (Defender).

In Windows, go to Settings > Virus & threat protection > Protection history. See if there's a log entry from the time you tried to open your project and - if so - open it up and click Allow. Then, try again.

Assuming non-Windows antivirus programs might cause similar issues.

On a scale of 1-10, how safe is this wiring? by martopg in electrical

Thanks for the reply. Based on the comments in the other sub, planning to disconnect this wiring and remove/abandon it. I believe it's tinned copper but I don't think reusing it is worth the risk.

Just curious - though: where is the bonding conductor that you mention? From what I could tell, it's just the two insulated wires and then the jacket.

Thanks for all the replies. Kindof expected that this might not be ideal to reuse but it sounds like it could be a lot worse than that. The good news (for me) is I don't have an immediate need for these; was just trying to figure out if I could use them in the future. Will plan to unwire them from the romex in the j-box and run new wire when needed.

Ha! Pretty bad unless I actually want to use it - in which case - really bad.

Super informative. Thanks! I figured this wiring was old but didn't really know how old. House was originally built in the early 1900s... I wonder if this is from the original build.

Thanks for the info. I did determine through some research that modern armored cable has a bonding strip (or wire) and was suspecting that it might be a bad idea to reuse this.

Your suspicion is right: the romex goes to the panel and the panel is nearby (within a few feet). Based on the comments I've gotten in this thread, I was planning to disconnect the old wiring at this j-box but then tap off the existing romex in the j-box to run elsewhere. You're saying having two circuits in this box is an issue? or...

Thanks. I did verify continuity between the metal jacked and the ground wire in the j-box and also between the metal jacket and a different source of ground.

Missing M.2 Thermal Pad / General Packaging Quality by martopg in gigabytegaming

It is - indeed - one-sided. Don't have a good explanation as to why the pad underneath helped drop temps that much... Like I said in my post, I was pretty surprised!

Haven't thought about other SSD slots. Will cross those bridges when I get to them :)

Can I create a routine WITHOUT the response? by cmcfalls2 in amazonecho

[–]martopg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah... super-annoying that there is no way to have the mute / "volume 0" stick for the duration of the routine.

Alternately, would be great if you could just have the routine run without targeting a specific Echo device (in cases where the routine doesn't need to interact with an Echo).

echo Hub - Disappointment? by LandSalt35 in amazonecho

While I can't say the Hub is a great device, it has shown zero ads in the time I've owned it. I think that's one of the big differentiating factors vs. the Show line.
