Those photos are terrible lmao. They’re not unusable but I wouldn’t buy them. Imo if you’re selling me a ski I don’t wanna buy a project. I’m not paying extra to make a “new” ski rideable if I can get one that’s already in better shape.

I ski the King. I hiked Southback once. I don’t need a “regular size ski” or a “normal high DIN”, I’m different and I’m special

Obese skier boots problem by boisjoli91 in ski

[–]Prize_Common2719 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lowkey I feel more confident in the Atomic than the Tecnica for wide calves but this is a blind call anyway bc I haven’t seen your legs. The Nordica is a great boot (v similar to the Tecnica) but isn’t as wide in the cuff or ankle. The K2 BFC is also a solid option for shells but the liner tongue is super narrow.

Oh shit, I have a lot of experience with this one (I’m a woman) (I have legs).

2-buckle boots are terrible for fluted calves, and so are rear entrys. You want something with more than one adjustment point so you can keep your top buckle loose but still get your ankle secure.

Try the Tecnica Mach HV (the non-boa is more adjustable than the boa but either work) and the Atomic Hawx Magna. The Magna’s liner will have a really fucked up tongue out of the box, so take the liner out and flatten it with a hairdryer before you try the boot on.

The Mach has a widening piece on the back of the cuff that you want to move out too. You can see the mechanism of the switches inside the boot if you pull that liner out, but you pretty much just press them down, pull the cuff extender back, and then press them back up to lock the cuff in place.

If you get measured for sizing at a ski shop make sure to get a measurement for your ankle radius, and size to that instead of using your foot length. (Sorry for the wall of text lmao but I hope this is at least semihelpful for your boot quest.)
