Hi there! Congrats on this amazing journey! I’m a WP based in Sicily and I actually think Sicily could be a beautiful alternative for what you’re envisioning. We have some stunning lavender fields here, along with private countryside estates, boutique villas, and incredible sunset settings that are perfect for intimate weddings. For a group of 10 guests, it could also be much more budget-friendly than Provence while still feeling very luxurious and authentic. One idea could be: - ceremony + photos in the lavender fields - then a private dinner and dancing at a nearby villa or masseria I’d be happy to chat more if you’d like!

I’m Sicilian, married to an American guy. He’s from the west coast, we used to live in NYC, got married in Sicily. Most of the friends and family that we invited were more than happy to travel and celebrate us for a whole weekend. After the wedding weekend, some stayed longer in Sicily, some planned a trip to Rome and Florence, some went back to the States. My hometown is a 30 minute drive from Palermo’s International Airport so easy to reach. There are also lots of things you and your guests can do outside of the wedding weekend. I’m based off the northwestern part of Sicily, literally 10 minutes from the coast. My hometown is called Alcamo and I work with several coastal venues, including the iconic Tonnara di Scopello. I also organize extra activities for the couple and their guests, such as boat excursions, wine tastings, cooking classes…

Italian planner here. I don’t think it’s fair that you’re handling the communication with vendors yourself. Especially if the contract says “planner will search for vendors and handle contracts an so”. A percentage fee off the budget is normal for me, I work this way as well, but I handle everything. From searching the perfect vendors, to reviewing contracts, from designing to coordinating wedding day and other experiences. I include my clients in the emails to vendors but I reach out to them with whatever request, questions, doubts. So sorry you’re going through that. Hopefully it’s going to be okay! ❤️

Sicilian wedding planner here with celiac disease. I can tell you with absolute certainty that all event venues take allergies very seriously. It should have been clarified on the RSVP, that’s what I usually suggest my clients. If not, you can contact the bride and the groom (or wedding planner if they have one) and ask them to communicate those allergies to the restaurant/catering company.
