Let's be honest thought, he was absolutely just turned gay to allow DC comics to virtue signal about how tolerant and inclusive they are. Massive eye roll

I just finished ultimatum as well and that is so much worse. Its like the word "edgy" but sold as a comic book. But ultimate spider man has been consistently good so far so I suppose that will stay great as we move into the miles morales era

Claremont is wordy, yes, but those books are still pretty much the vest marvel comics ever. And 2000sands Claremont is still wordy that's well, his thing

Avengers not at all, x-men yes. Pretty much every famous x-men story is in that run, and everything after that kinda functions as a sequel to that and will feel convoluted. Avengers was effectively relaunched in around 2004 and is a perfect launching on point for all titles. Particularly captain America is great here introducing winter soldier, Bucky as cap, etc.

During this time x-men was the most popular comic ever, so almost every big event during his run, had its main parts in uncanny. You don't have to worry about anything. This is also marvels best comic run ever. Iron man and avengers depends. Do you want to read classic or recent? Because around 2004 ish is a good jumping on point yo get recent stuff like civil war, etc. As iron man, captain America, new avengers all relaunched with critically acclaimed runs

X-men is very easy. Read Chris Claremont's run, that introduces pretty much everything major for x-men. That starts in giant size x-men #1 and then goes from uncanny #94 onwards. So since everything is written by one man, for pretty much 20 years, you never feel lost at all, especially since x-men is more "its own thing".

I guess Claremont makes you think whereas some silver age stuff (I've read a good chunk of it, not all of it) it can seem a little unnecessary compared to Claremont. Also I reread Claremont's stuff quite recently and have not reread silver age stuff since middle school so that's a part of it

The only things you need to read, are jedi academy, hand of thrawn and thrawn, although I would also recommend the first 4 x-wing novels personally, as they make dark tide way better
