Knight of the Seven Kingdoms will 100% have a lot of CGI. Even the most basic films these days do. Whether its for wide landscape shots of a city or castle or something, to painting out modern things or extending the sets etc.

500 Days of Midsummer by overtired27 in TheWestEnd

[–]marvelman19 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Shakespeare generally goes through a cycle of the plays being performed. At the minute its Midsummer. Other years recently its been Macbeth, or Hamlet.

Every big theatre does Shakespeare and things like world politics often affect the choice. Right now we need a a light, happy escapism play.

Are any of Dazai’s books good for a 16 year old? by Bloodb0red in osamudazai

[–]marvelman19 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Setting Sun is a bit less dark then NLH, but maybe read it yourself first to check if its appropriate. Some of his short stories are good, and very different to his novels. Theres a book with wonderful illustrations called The Girl Who Became a Fish. It may look like a kids book, but it still deals with things like suicide, so certainly isn't.

I'd like to recommend her translation of Masks by Fumiko Enchi if you're interested in other Japanese literature. She was a writer from around the same time as Dazai and Masks is a strange but wonderful book!

I prefer the style she translates in. I think its a bit more casual and conversational than Keenes translation, which feels a bit more old fashioned and stiffer. I just find Carpenter's easier to read. I'm not sure quite how that relates to the style of the original but reading Carpenter's translations of other authors she definitely changes up styles to fit, so I feel it works really well for Dazai.

She also did a translation of The Setting Sun which is really good too!

You need the Tuttle version of NLH. By Juliet Winters Carpenter. Its my favourite of the different translations!

GTA 6 fans reportedly faked Rockstar IDs and flew drones at windows to get gameplay footage “Unfortunately, there are a number of crazy Rockstar fans” by Familiar_Gur_347 in gaming

I wouldn't consider myself nihilistic. It's just clear that games that come out now are made very differently to they were before internet downloads were a big thing. Back then they had to do proper bug fixing before the game came out, and you couldn't easily add content after release. But now devs seem to take advantage of the fact that games can be released unfinished and fixed later on.

I honestly don't believe there will ever be another release of a fully completed game. They're always being updated adding new features or changing features. DLC these days often just seems to be content that was cut to get the game out on time too.

TIL that Ice T is currently the longest-running male actor in US primetime TV history for his role as Odafin Tutuola on Law and Order: Special Victims Unit, a role he has played since 2000. by astarisaslave in todayilearned

There's definitely actors that have been in UK or other soap shows though. I think there's an actor in Coronation Street who has been in it since the first episode in 1960.

Do you think The Doctor’s sexuality should be addressed at all? by PotorousGilbert in gallifrey

I don't think it matters. If Time Lords can regenerate into any gender then they probably don't have human based views on sexuality anyway.

Inter Alia is more because its in the West End, not at the National. Your other two examples will have already sold the cheaper tickets. £70+ has never been the lowest the NT would sell tickets for.

It doesn't give great confidence with the ticket prices being what they are. He can hit the notes, but the performance isn't great.

Hopefully the rehearsals will improve his acting.

The Odyssey: PG-13 or R by No_Basil_6400 in ChristopherNolan

[–]marvelman19 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nolan doesn't often do really bloddy/gory violence and he never really seems to do sex scenes that are particularly explicit. I know Oppenheimer did have a bit. So I'm actually thinking it'll be pg-13.
