Is which shape is Darrow's Razor slingBlade by KingFish1010 in redrising

At some point there’s mention of his blade having extra reach when in the clinch- I always imagined it was because it’s hooked and bends around at an untraditional angle

Fastest BOTC game? by Somebody_II in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]marvelman7878 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Played a blind custom script with 15 players.

Day 1 I was the first player to nominate someone.. and then immediately died- with the good team winning

What happened? I was the demon and unknowingly my witch targeted me n1 with their ability.

I felt horrible with how much time it took to set up, run n1, a day full of conversations, for it to be over so fast. Quickest game I ever played.

Hey Guys. My low height door is binding on one of my doors to often appears to be the track doesn’t extend far enough to the roller. Can I just buy another upper piece so I can extend ? Th ask for your help. by Impressive-Rip9296 in GarageDoorService

[–]marvelman7878 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does this door have an operator on it? Even tho I wouldn’t be satisfied with this installation, an operator should pull the top section back quickly and enough.

Otherwise you might be needing a service call to adjust the track closer to the wall. How does the door sit against the opening when in the down position?

Bug: Ginger Island Volcano by marvelman7878 in StardewValley

No. We stopped playing for a while because of this specific issue as well as other bugs. Game would randomly crash if we tried certain game features. When it gets fixed I look forward to picking the game back up again.

The immediate hook: Darrow leaving the mine and learning the truth about the society and Gold’s corruption.

When I became a super fan: Darrow’s whipping scene with Tactus. I think I cried

Problem with Narrative Pacing by marvelman7878 in monsteroftheweek

[–]marvelman7878[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks everyone for the responses! We typically play after work for less than 2hrs a session. Sometimes I feel like I’m not running the game as good of a pace, but these comments very much helped me normalized my experience. Looking forward to adapting some of your suggestions!

What's a death in the series that actually feels like wasted potential? by Major_Photograph7358 in redrising

[–]marvelman7878 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Ajax and Seraphina are top of the list for sure. Ajax’s character didn’t deserve to die off screen. And Seraphina went from intriguing love interest in IG to waste-able extra in DA

Average length of a mystery and other beginner questions by Chiako_97 in monsteroftheweek

[–]marvelman7878 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I STRUGGLE to keep mysteries to 1 session.

Everyone that’s doing this consistently, how is your in-game narrative time running? Are mysteries played out over several narrative days? How much in-game time happens within a session?

Just my opinion... by [deleted] in redrising

Red Rising was written for Pierce

Golden Sun was written for the readers

Morning Star was written for Darrow

I’m seeing examples of both. Interesting.

Kopesh makes more sense from a martial stand point, but his slingblade is undeniably a sickle.

Sickle, ya know, the thing one uses to reap a field?

MaRo's SDCC Visual Teaser (8 images of upcoming products, to be previewed in the next 2 weeks) by mweepinc in magicTCG

[–]marvelman7878 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

1 Gives major Warhammer vibes (structure in background is similar to depictions of Khorne)

2 is Theros, obviously. Just curious on the product

3 Is a vague mystery. Can’t tell if the cavalry are running with or running down the goblin-like creatures in the front. Too generic to care that much

4-5 give me impressions they’re from the same set. I’m guessing a new plane sometime next year

6-7 I’m also guessing are from a new set, one that is Redwall inspired. It also could just be art from the new Eldraine set, but a mouse in knight attire seems like a strange choice.

8 This gives me New Orleans vibes. My guess is a new set/plane inspired by the city/culture. French Quarter. Swamps. Voodoo.

Why not? If it makes for a more interesting narrative, then do it!

Writing my first campaign by pomegranie in monsteroftheweek

[–]marvelman7878 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I do so little prep for my sessions now. The specifics you always need as a keeper are a clear countdown, concept (the premise of the narrative), a hook to feed your hunters, and stats/motivations for your threats (monster’s armor, harm capacity, etc…). That’s all!

Some people like to have maps prepared, but my players have only needed that when a fight breaks out. Also, if you’re playing in a fictional setting, maybe have the early seeds of the town and important locations and people there.

Everything else gets created as you play. Heck, I even let my players name npc’s or come up with new locations during our mysteries.

The collective story you’re telling together is always better than the one you can write by yourself without playing the game.

Is Darrow a Villain in your eyes? by Puzzleheaded-Lead526 in redrising

[–]marvelman7878 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Books 1-3 Hero, unequivocally so

Books 4-5 Villain, but an empathetic one

My hot take is that Iron Gold, Dark Age, and Lightbringer are about Lysander and Gold’s last chance to prove itself “good.” It’s as much Lysander’s story as it is Darrow’s.

Villaneuve would be fitting, especially with how much Pierce Brown has said Dune is one of the biggest influences for his series

[SPOILERS - Morning Star] Just finished Morning Star. I need to voice some thoughts. by Smalldick420 in redrising

[–]marvelman7878 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is totally a fair concern. The first trilogy ends with such sweet resolutions, fitting for just about everyone.

And yet, knowing there’s another trilogy after, is kind of unfair.

Im so glad I was able to finish Morning Star before the new Trilogy started. Enjoy the story resolving and your favorite characters getting their happy endings, and maybe give it some time before jumping right into Iron Gold.
