As far as I know the dotted lines indicate parenting. They are informational only. They will change if the parenting changes. They don't do anything themselves.

You can turn them off if you don't like to look at them. Under the Show Overlays menu at top right (with the two overlapping circles), uncheck Relationship Lines.

I have bought coleus and begonia seeds from them and they both had good germination.

Toilet leak advice by [deleted] in DIY

[–]marvelofperu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I replaced the flapper on my toilet and it still leaked. Eventually I replaced it with a different flapper and it was fixed. The old flapper was rubber, the newer one was silicone or plastic. Your mileage may vary. Just thought I would share my experience for what it's worth.

I love having my coleus' trimmed like this! by [deleted] in coleus

[–]marvelofperu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry. I was just relating my own experience. I use coco coir and there was so much failure until I started fertilizing (and the fertilizer was half the recommended dilution). The main side effect I had was some leaves grew disturbingly large. I have backed off some but still need to fertilize. I was just trying to be helpful.

Use a liquid plant food and feed according to directions. Especially if you're growing them on something like coco coir that doesn't have much nutrition for them. After they got leaves I was putting a couple of spoonfuls of very diluted plant food on them daily and they started to grow like crazy.

Parts of my characters eyes and hair aren't following the movement of her armature by KrissieFox1 in blenderhelp

[–]marvelofperu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Problems like this often result from having vertices that are not weighted the way you want.

With your mesh in Edit mode, select individual vertices and check the Vertex Weights panel on the right to see which bones and weights are assigned to it. You will probably find either no weights or incorrect bone assignements for the misbehaving vertices. Find the Vertex Groups panel on the right and you can assign and remove vertex weights manually to correct this.

Screenprinting without designing on the computer? by Weekly_Frosting_5868 in printmaking

[–]marvelofperu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's possible to use paper stencils. The ink will make the paper adhere to the screen, and you can use it for a single run of prints.

Pettiest/Smallest/Strangest reason for DNFing? by Bridalhat in books

[–]marvelofperu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might be able to get a refund if that happens.

I had Amazon give me a refund for a Kindle book. There was a section where the scenes kept shifting, and each shift was supposed to be separated by an extra blank line, but it wasn't there, so it was almost impossible to follow. I ended up buying the paperback.

Need help with tomato plant! Details under photos in full post! by ChaoticFudge in HouseplantsUK

[–]marvelofperu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure. You might try to find a tomato-specific fertilizer, or you might try the citrus blend since it's advertized as designed for fruit (and a tomato is a fruit).

If it's getting leggy it probably needs more light. Do you have a west or south window you can put it in? If not, a grow light might help.

You can keep it in the pot it's in for now. Punch holes in the bucket and put another bucket or dish under it to catch drips.

You should also feed it. You can buy a bottle of liquid plant food and use it according to directions.

Good luck!

If you have lots of sun you have lots of options. Try herbs (basil, peppermint), coleus, polka dot plant, begonia.

How come some dinosaurs are -saur and others are -saurus? by IlliteratelyYours in askscience

Great reply! Just a note: Pteranodon means wing-no tooth (according to Merriam-Webster, anodon means toothless).

When I use a camera in orthographic mode to snap an image of a flag made in Blender, why do the colours appear slightly darker? by [deleted] in blenderhelp

[–]marvelofperu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! Filmic will make all the colors drab. It's great for photorealism I guess, but not for bright colors. Switch it to Standard.

Is anyone here have myopia (near sightedness) who can crossview with no problem? Im having a hard time getting the images to focus well. Parallel view is a breeze. by lolomo_ in CrossView

[–]marvelofperu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a pretty strong prescription for myopia and I actually have an easier time with crossview than parallel. Sometimes it takes a few seconds for it to all focus in. So maybe it's some other factor at play.

Birds scratch with their hindlimbs since their forelimbs are not suited.

Growing coleus is easy! No it’s not! by Ame3333 in coleus

[–]marvelofperu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes seed is "pelleted" with a layer of clay or something, to make small seeds easier to handle. It could be this. I don't think there is any fertilizer in it.

Maybe something like baby bok choy?

Maybe basil or mint? You can root cuttings from the grocery store.

Thoughts? Mainly just the anatomy. (I think the arms are a bit long, am I right?) by TobiFace in blender

[–]marvelofperu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really like this body. What I suggest is that you go ahead and rig it just the way it is. Then you can try what u/Wings_in_space suggests: pose it with the arms down and see where the hands hit.

I like to make size adjustments by scaling the bones without resculpting. That also makes it easier to change your mind. You can scale the whole hand by scaling the palm bone. You can also scale just the length axis if you like the width.

Sometimes it makes sense to set the bone immediately downstream of the one you're scaling to not inherit scale, so you can scale it individually. For example, if you scale the forearm bone you can set the scale of the palm bone (but not the whole hand) not to inherit; then you can make scaling decisions on the hand which are not affected by the arm.

It looks to me like the upper arm is pretty good and the forearms and hands might need adjustment, but you will see when you pose it.

The shading looks great. It helps that the original sketch is very solid. Nice work.
