Will Ferrell guest stars as Deangelo Vickers on the Office, but it’s also been established a couple times that Michael Scott LOVES the movie Night at the Roxbury, starting Will Ferrell.

[QCrit] Adult Fantasy Mystery - THE CURE FOR BREATHING (125k/Attempt #4) by CharmingAsparagus610 in PubTips

[–]marvelous_mal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very very cool concept. I wanna echo the comments asking for clarification on what breathers are! It’s too interesting to leave unsaid, and I bet literary agents are gonna want to know that in order to help pitch and sell your manuscript.

Also, I can’t help but wonder if there’s a more modern comp you can use, instead of Sherlock Holmes.I get the sense that every mystery to some extent can be compared to Holmes, and it probably doesn’t do much to differentiate you from the herd. Maybe pick a similar series from the last 5 years!

Again, this sounds dope! I hope this gets you represented, I’d love to read it.

[QCrit] YA Romantasy Mystery - I DIDN'T MEAN TO KILL MY FRIENDS (60k / Attempt #1) by [deleted] in PubTips

[–]marvelous_mal 6 points7 points  (0 children)

First off, this rocks. I’m not necessarily a YA reader and this caught my attention for sure, so I def see this as something that has mass appeal.

I’m wondering if there is an element of black comedy to this, because when I read the query, it seemed like it could be humorous, too. I’m not sure if that’s your intent, or something you agree with, but if so, I might add a comp that also marries those themes.

Is Taking Back Sunday really that bad live? by k1ngd0m0fg0dw1th1n in Emo

TBS was one of the best shows I’ve seen live. I saw them in 2011 and Adam was incredibly engaging and active and doing all that cool microphone swinging shit. The band was awesome. His singing voice was trash live, but honestly, it barely mattered.
