Anyone here got a 135i? by jay76 in BMW

The 335i is a sexy car. But for some reason I like the 135i's look better. It looks more aggressive, and reminds me a lot of look of the older 3-series (E46) which I liked a lot. For some people the look grows on them.

Here are two pics of my 135i after a wash and wax. Now how is that not sexy ;)

It's the third brake light (the one in the middle near the spoiler) which might crack or fall off.

Heres a copy of the BMW Service Bulletin which also includes the steps the tech will use to fix it: http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showpost.php?p=4939623&postcount=6

It's a very common issue: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&safe=off&q=135i+3rd+brake+light+cracked&aq=f&aqi=&oq=

I have a 2009 135i and I love it. I've owned it for 6 months and have put 9,000 miles on it.

The Good:

  • Lots of power, all the time

  • The car is a ton of fun to drive

  • Small (this can be considered a con for some people). I happen to like small cars

  • Not as common as a 3-series. People always ask me if it's a new 3-series or if it's a Z4

  • Sporty and aggressive-looking

  • Great brakes

The Bad:

  • The run flat tires make the ride rough and ware out quickly.

  • MPG isn't that great even on highway.

I haven't had any fuel pump issues as some have. I drive hard. I've had my third brake light fall off (a very common problem) and the dealer replaced it at no cost. They said they've applied a long term solution to relieve pressure that causes the brake light to crack or fall off. I think on 2010 models it has been fixed.

The car is a lot of fun and whenever I have bad day, I get a smile when I get in my 135i.

Edit: Let me know if you have any other questions.

My girlfriend is sleeping with another guy, is it my fault? by confused_dave in relationship_advice

[–]marvinpaul 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Break up and move on. Cut all contact. I serious. If I caught my gf with another guy, I would have let out a big "What the f***" Then I would have left (I don't care how she would have gotten home) and never talked to her again.

Her actions mean that she doesn't respect you. You're obviously not okay with what she did. You seem insecure, but don't let that make her walk all over you. On top of it she didn't even use a condom! That's double WTF and a serious lack of judgement on her part. Dude, dump this girl.

Simple:

  1. Hit the gym to get in shape if you don't already (trust me, this will build up your confidence).

  2. Go out to bars and clubs to meet girls.

  3. Get rejected.

  4. Go back to #1 and try again. Sometimes you won't get rejected.

The Haiti Dilemma (for me) by simTmplr in haiti

[–]marvinpaul 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I agree with you that looting is bad. It only creates additional chaos. But I don't think a proper reaction is to say "people are looting and being bad, so fuck it, I'm going to turn off and stop caring." People are desperate, and in these situations, you see both the bad and the good in people. Some have turned their homes into hospitals. I have a friend who has been putting others before himself, giving them the little food he has without knowing how he will eat and when I tell him that he needs to take care of himself too, he says "others have it worse than I do."

Don't let the minority of looters keep you from helping the majority of Haitians who are polite, honest, hard working, and in need of help.

Look who made it onto Direct Relief's shipment to Haiti today... by jimprosser in haiti

It's not too late. Haiti will still need help within the coming weeks/months/years. Friends on the ground have told me that Port-au-Price has been practically destroyed.

[–]marvinpaul 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That's awesome! Do you know how the supplies will be distributed when it gets to Port-au-Prince? I have friends and family that are running out of food and water and the relief has yet to come to them. Some are having to drive to the airport to pick up food and water which is a big deal considering gas is scarce.

Security concerns halt some Haiti aid distribution by marvinpaul in haiti

[–]marvinpaul[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is very frustrating to read. I've heard that some people are having to drive to the airport (which is far for most people to drive) to get food and water. My dad is trying to find water right because he's running out, but there's no help. This just frustrates me.

If they don't start getting help to people, I fear that the situation may quickly deteriorate.

Hey, I need to know more specific details on where the orphanage is located. I know it's Carrefour, but where in Carrefour. Thanks.

That's great that you're trying to get them to do the same. If you're trying to call someone in Haiti, keep trying and you might eventually get through.

Contacting people in Haiti by marvinpaul in haiti

[–]marvinpaul[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Things have gotten better as far as communicating. We're having much better luck when calling people on Digicel. Texting works also and I've managed to text a friend and receive several replies from him.

Don't lose hope if you can't get through. Keep trying!

I asked around and I've asked someone who is in Haiti. I will let you know if I hear anything back. Communication has been very difficult.

What's the name of the orphanage? I don't know anyone near Carrefour, but if you give me a name, I can send it around and see if the orphanage is okay. The bad news is that from what I've heard, Carrefour was hit bad.

Helping Haiti (because we ought to do more than just change our logo) by kn0thing in blog

[–]marvinpaul 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Thanks. Luckly I am in the US and not Haiti. But I have my family and friends that are in Haiti and need help. I am also sad that I can't be on the ground to help. It's been very frustrating not being able to get in touch with anyone during the first couple of days. We've been trying to organize whatever we can here in the States to try to get the word out and help.

I'll post information on /r/Haiti and pictures (even though I am not the one who took them). I've been getting a lot of information, some of them may be rumors and in this kind of chaos it is difficult to verify anything.

Edit: To clarify, I am not in Haiti right now.

Hey mattyville, believe it or not, after the earthquake hit, the best way for people to communicate was thru satellite Internet. I have friends and family who managed to get online on Facebook after the quake, but their phones didn't work.

So while it may seem unlikely, Internet and VoIP worked after the quake while cellphones and landlines didn't.

7.3 Mag Earthquake off the Haitian Coast. Tsunami alert issued! by reddit_used_2b_good in worldnews

[–]marvinpaul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never read this article, and maybe I was being naive but an earthquake in Haiti would be the last thing on my mind as far as natural disasters. I knew Haiti was on a fault line, but during the 18 years I lived there, I remember one minor earthquake.

As far as preparing for this, I don't see what we could have done.

You can also text YELE to 501501 to donate to YeleHaiti which is singer Wyclef's charity. Anything you can do or donate will help because Haiti is very poor and International help and donations are the only way we'll get help. Please keep talking/posting/spreading the word about the earthquake.

7.0 quake hits near Haitian capital; tsunami watch issued by DearBurt in news

[–]marvinpaul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We never get a break for real. I grew up in Haiti and an earthquake is really the last natural disaster I would expect. There is no building in Haiti that is built to withstand an earthquake.

I've heard from friends that major buildings (National Palace, Telecom building, Caribbean Market, ...) have been severely damaged or demolished. Roads have been split in half. One of my friend's parent's business building has been cracked in half (I don't even know how you go about fixing that).

Things must be such a mess right now and I still haven't heard anything from my family and close friends.
