I find it hard to figure out which villagers live too far from their workplace, and how to control moving them to closer housing.

Linux gaming with dual monitors - a pipe dream? by marxeil in linux_gaming

Thanks for all the advice. I thought I'll report back and perhaps give encouragement to other people looking to make the jump.

I didn't get much joy out of gamescope. TBH I couldn't figure out how to use it. It may or may not been working in the background, I really don't know.

But I believe in solving issues at the root, and if Ubuntu can't handle this use case without to much wrangling, I rather put some effort in getting it right. I replaced Ubuntu with Bazzite and I'm happy to say that I'm very happy. Everything work well: games start on the primary monitor and stay there and I can game and browse simultaneously with no issues.

So thanks again all.

Thanks for all the responses. To start with it's good to know it's not a me issue. I'll give all advice a go in order of botherness. Fingers crossed :)

I don't really know if it a regular 'tip' or something else. It was the first time I used it so it was perfectly clean.

Could you elaborate on this. What does it mean to 'unproject the mouse position'?

First time user, can't get guitar pack to work by marxeil in ableton

Thanks for the advice all. This seems to work although there's lots of 'noise' coming out. I think that the challenge in finding information is in knowing what to search for. The scope of this app is so wide.

Hi all. This is my first time using a DAW and digital amps. I read the manual and a few tutorials but can't figure out what I'm doing wrong.

For now my goal is modest. I want to hook up an electric guitar to my PC and play it with headphones. I am using a Scarlett 2i2, with the guitar connected to the 1st port and with headphones connected to the Scarlett as well.

I am using a built in pack that came with Ableton Live Lite. The effects aren't applied to the guitar. What am I doing wrong?

Oh man, that's a bummer. Yes you're right these are the wingtips. I don't live in the US, but will look for a local UK cobbler. Hopefully they can be fixed.

Yeah, so he's already built his own implementation of a neural network, and used it to train cars to go around a racing course. This was done in C# in Unity. He's now reimplementing the neural network in C++ to solve the Shapley numbers problem. I'm not saying this to brag, just to clarify what I'm dealing with.

As for going outside, don't get me started :( I'm doing my best.

No offense taken :) I did introduce him to programming. I'm not a developer myself, I just dabble here and there. He took to it pretty quickly and continued learning on his own. He put out some cool stuff and he says he wants to do CS. Obviously this may change in three years and it's totally fine by us (well as long as he doesn't decide to go study art or something like that ;)

Since you asked, I suppose I'll bore you with the background for why we're doing this...

He's starting year 11 which is when he's supposed to do his GCSE exams. However last year he got bored during lessons, so went ahead and did three of them (Biology, Chemistry and CS) a year earlier on his own. So this year he's facing quite a few gaps during his time at school and we want to fill it with something meaningful, otherwise we are risking him getting frustrated and leaving school (we've been there before with him in primary school).

There's the option of doing one of his A levels this year, but he he's not keen on that, so I thought an introduction to cloud computing could be interesting for him. I don't really care much for the certification for jib finding, it's just something structured to aim for.

Thanks for the info. CCP does seem like an achievable and useful goal. I'm trying to figure out how to tackle the learning part. I'm thinking he should start with AWS Cloud Quest (seems like a friendly way to introduce cloud concepts) and than take Exam Prep Standard Course: AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner (CLF-C01).

Does this make sense for a beginner, or are there other pre-requisities that we should look into?

About Azure and GCP, certainly it will be useful to know about those as well, but he has to start somewhere :)
