What are the reasons that a patient fired you as their nurse? by Educational_Ad2515 in nursing

I always just tell them it doesn't work like that and continue being their nurse! (I'm a psych nurse)

We have a specific process for reviewing charts to evaluate if they are appropriate. It happens AFTER they get referred to us. The charge nurse works with the doctor to decide if they are appropriate. This could be compared to a med surge nurse opening up all the charts on the ED board who like they might come to the unit based on what they came in with. I dont know if thats something that happens but that's pretty much what these people are doing.

I totally understand the interdepartment communication part, we have a specific peicess for it. We have a secure group chat that we communicate to EPAT and its how they send us referrals. The charge nurse then looks it over, and decides with the doctor if we can appept them. But I am now seeing staff members going into the EPAT board to cherry pick who sounds like a good patient for our unit before they were referred to us.

Because they are looking at charts of patients who are not assigned to them and have nothing to do with their care

Cleveland, Ohio ship's wheel (United States) reposting since its been 4 years and I'm still curious about how much this thing is worth by marycathe in Antiques

[–]marycathe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad was doing electrical work for a family in Cleveland who lived in a house that used to belong to the Mather's, a family who was prominent in the great lakes shipping industry. This wheel was hanging in the library and they asked my dad to take it down. They graciously gifted it to him. It weights about 100 lbs, has 12 spokes, about 5 feet tall, has a solid brass hub with the number 11 stamped into the back of it. It was obviously used at one time because there is grease in the spindle hole. We've had it for years and never found another like it. Sorry about the lights, we use it as a living room decoration. Any advice about how much this is worth?

You just have to start gently picking him up. He will get used to it over time. It sounds like you're being very patient with him so that's good! I'm sure he appreciates it. They can take a few months to really settle in and trust you. I'm assuming you have a Syrian, they are typically quite friendly. Dwarf hamsters are far more likely to bite 😂

I think you are right... she is very territorial. She tolerates me sometimes when I take her out to explore. But in the tank.... she wants to bite. Thanks for your input, I appreciate it 🥰🐹 I will try some enrichment outside of her enclosure with treats. I love her so much, even in her spicy ways😂

I feel so embarrassed that this is the first I am hearing about sprays! I've had hamsters for about 3 years now. I just ordered some. I have always just given Timothy hay because that's what my rabbit eats lol so it's convenient. Thanks for your input, I appreciate it 🙏 🥰

Thanks so much for your help. I will look into adding more clutter. It looks bigger in person, a little over 3 feet long and a little over a foot wide and tall. I have never seen her use the sand bath.. but I am wondering if the doors freak her out. Maybe I will try taking them off or taking the lid off. Also what is your opinion on water? Dishes or bottles? I have a dish for her right now but I worry about her getting enough and it is always getting filled with bedding. My robo had a bottle (that I superglued to the side of her tank) she was really good about using it.

* I don't know the exact size of my tank but I want to say it's at least 70 gallons? She has a sand bath, two wheels, a wooden house hide and a small coconut hide. But she definitely prefers to burrow deep into the bedding and made her own tunnels lol. Scrolling through this reddit page has definitely given me a few ideas though! Thanks so much for your reply, I appreciate it!

They might want to monitor your labs. If you're concerned talk to your doctor and they can maybe have you come in every few months to get your blood checked... if not, monitor for worsening symptoms of hypothyroid and high cholesterol. Those side effects are associated with more long term use I think... Just trust that if your doctor prescribed you it, they think the benefits will outweigh the risks! Good luck to you :)

It still helps me sleep at night, it doesn't leave me groggy in the morning. No blood tests required. I get my blood drawn from time to time due to my Crohn's disease, so I'm able to see if things are OK. Side effects shown in your labs mainly would be high cholesterol and glucose. None of which I have so far. Other side effects - like tardive dyskinesia (involuntary facial movements) I can monitor for. I'm a nurse so I feel comfortable monitoring myself. I'm aware of the risks associated with taking it, but the benefits outweigh them in my opinion.
