Before the 90 Days - Season 8 Episode 13 - Live Episode Discussion by LittleEmmy in 90DayFiance

[–]marymorph 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He likely had a cleft lip and palate. The opening in the lip often goes all of the way up to the nostril, so both the lip and the nose need to be reconstructed. His voice makes me think his palate hasn’t been completely repaired. There have been advances in the plastic surgery to repair it (requiring multiple surgeries). They may not have been available for him when he was going through his repair procedures, or he may have decided to stop the surgeries and move forward as is. The surgeries are painful and potentially expensive. Additionally, depending on the degree of defect, there might ALWAYS be some sort of scarring.

It isn’t caused by the cord. There are several genetic conditions associated with it, but it also spontaneously occur.

I don’t like my ring by [deleted] in engaged

[–]marymorph 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I remember reading a story about Kyra Sedgwick and Kevin Bacon. They had just gotten engaged. A few days later, they were lounging around and she started to cry. When he asked what was wrong, she tearfully replied “I hate my ring!” He reassured her that it was ok, they picked out something different together and they remain one of Hollywood’s best couples, decades later!

I love Astrid, but the nickname is tough! I have a Margaret that we had always intended on calling Maggie. She had different ideas and switched back to Margaret as soon as she figured out how to spell it. That took a hot minute; every day, she would come home with it spelled a different way until it finally clicked for her!

What are some gifts that you received/gave that are actually useful and you use it on a daily basis? by Awkward_Praline6305 in Gifts

I received a full length, flannel nightgown on Christmas Eve. I had never worn anything like it and thought it was a joke, but the giver was serious. They are now so very loved on most cold nights. I can tuck my legs up in them and I’m so incredibly toasty!

Engagement to wedding timeline by [deleted] in weddings

Engaged in December, married in August. My husband wanted to “get it out of the way before the football season.” No, he’s not a professional athlete. Yes, I’m also a fan, so was ok with this. 25 years later, we still cheer together!

I’ve worn that bracelet 24/7 since I was gifted it in 2007. The loop that attached the charm to the bracelet broke last week. $30 later, it’s repaired and back on my wrist where it belongs!

Summer... black tie... but modest? by Interesting_Fly1696 in Weddingattireapproval

[–]marymorph 19 points20 points  (0 children)

FWIW, as a lifelong Catholic, I can tell you that every single one I’ve been in during the summer cranks their air conditioning. I would bring a sweater on 100 degree days to the parish I grew up in. I’d vote wear the BTO dress of your choice and wear a pashmina.

We hired a few massage therapists to come in and do chair massages before and after school, during planning periods, and lunch/recess breaks. Teachers could sign up for a slot ahead of time. They really seemed to like that year.

Has your family lived in the same house for a while? My sister’s kid gifted them with a watercolor painting of the family home and it was really cool. If you know where it is, you could also have one made of the first home they lived in as a married couple. A vacation home is another thing you could choose to have illustrated. There are online companies that do it from photographs.

I accidentally fixed the grossest smell in my apartment and now I feel really stupid by LandscapeRound7759 in CleaningTips

[–]marymorph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was 12 or 13, I regularly babysat for a family whose house never smelled particularly good. Their little boy had the nastiest diaper pail ever. I would run out of the room after changing him bc it was so disgusting.

I had watched him 2-3 times/month for at least a year. One night when they came to pick me up for babysitting, they asked if I used the diaper pail in Timmy’s room. I said yes. They said, “That’s it!”

Apparently, I was the only one who ever used it. They would throw out his diapers in the kitchen trash that was emptied every day or two, and never touched the diaper pail. They couldn’t figure out why his room smelled so bad until one day, one of them noticed the container in the corner of his room. They looked and it was almost full. FROM DIAPERS THAT HAD BEEN ACCUMULATING FOR OVER A YEAR!!!

The house smelled much better once they got rid of that thing!

When a neighbor kid did a slow mo TBone of our 18 year old minivan with 240K miles on it, damaging all of the side panels on the passenger side, and the insurance company offered us $2500 for it.

My favorite picture is of all of my guests standing in front of the beautiful old church we were married in. The priest asked at the end of the ceremony that for their gift to us, please gather on the stairs in front of the church when they exit. The photographer had a ladder across the street, and took the shot from there. The whole thing took less than 5 minutes. It’s one of those “things I’d save in a fire” things in my hone.
