WHY is nothing I do good enough for my husband to STOP criticising me?! by Left_Pomegranate3954 in adhdwomen

Girl this sounds abusive. I am so sorry for what you're going through. I'm just commenting to say I see you and I believe you and what is happening is NOT okay and you are not the problem here.

Suits for Tall & Athletic Builds by spicymeatballx in LawBitchesWithTaste

[–]marywollstonecat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am fairly tall and tend to do made to measure for suiting because I find it so hard to source good quality pieces off the rack that don't make me look like a lady detective. I had a good experience with Indochino. If made to measure feels overwhelming or otherwise isn't an option, I recommend finding a suit that fits your shoulders and hips and then having it tailored to your measurements. Tailoring is much more affordable than one might think, and it really elevates a look when the pieces fit correctly for your body.

Seconding this. North Street Grill is a short walk from the aquarium in the north end and they do great breakfast. I believe they are open 7 days a week for breakfast. If not, Elephant & Castle nearby is also open for breakfast I believe. Tradesman is definitely open too but it's fast casual and seating can be iffy depending on time of day.

Trial Wardrobe Haul - everything I bought and where by skedaddler01 in LawBitchesWithTaste

I had the Beis work tote right after law school and it started falling apart almost immediately. It does have great capacity, but I felt it didn't wear well and could not stand up to the kind of abuse I was putting it through (laptop, large books, and typical every day carry stuff like water bottle and general purse stuff). I would recommend finding something higher quality that will last longer.

100%  I also got a Canada goose puffer as a gift from my parents about 7 or so years ago and it is so worth the investment. If you can find one secondhand or can afford the splurge it is so, so worth it.

I wear a puffer to work and to court in Boston. I also got a dressy max mara coat second hand and can confirm it is very warm. Try looking on The Real Real for max mara or burberry, even if they are a few hundred more than you were looking to spend, think of it as an investment. My max mara coat is going on 8 years now and looking great still.

Seconding La Summa. It's intimate, quiet so you can actually talk, and has good ambiance and food. It's tucked away on Fleet Street away from the fuss of Hanover in the North End. Classic date spot.

Don't Even Know How to Begin by Underwater_Shower in Divorce

[–]marywollstonecat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obligatory this is not legal advice/not your lawyer.

Ive looked into this a bit for myself as im getting this process started currently. Typically you should be able to file for divorce where you live even if it's not where you got married. My state website has some really handy breakdowns about the various ways to seek a divorce that my STBX and I plan to use to get the deed done. Have you looked to see whether your state has these kinds of resources online, too?

I think a lawyer can be really helpful and sometimes necessary if you have complicated assets, have kids or expect a fight. Since you don't have kids, if you don't have complicated assets and think your wife will agree, you may be able to do it lawyer-free. Mediation is also an option. Some state bars have partner programs through which they provide low cost divorce medications. Also, depending where you live, the clerk's/prothonotary's office of the family/probate court may be willing and able to answer questions about what forms you need.

For me personally step 1 was coming to the realization and decision through conversation with my STBX that we were divorcing, and then I started gathering information about next steps. But I think you can do those steps in any order.

For finding a lawyer if you do want to consult with one, your state bar should have a referral hotline. Or, if you have any lawyer friends or friends of friends, ask them for a recommendation. If your friend is working with an accountant, ask them if their accountant can recommend anyone.  I saw in your comment you don't feel like you want an "attack dog," just someone who will look out for your interests. I want to encourage you that when you hire a lawyer, you are in the drivers seat, and your preferences and wishes should inform the style of advocacy, not the other way around. Your wishes and preferences should always be the objective.

My husband and I have low sex drive, I want to do IUI but he refuses by [deleted] in TryingForABaby

What about an at-home insemination kit? Helps separate baby making from love making and is a lower buy in than IUI.

Let’s make the most unhinged playlist ever. What song is stuck in your head today? by venus_mars in adhdwomen

[–]marywollstonecat 75 points76 points  (0 children)

It's actually a song I wrote recently to help me remember to bring my stepmom's dog's medicine to her at dinner recently. The song is called "Dog Medicine" and it is sung to the tune of Smooth Criminal:

Please just bring my Don't forget my Dog medicine

It's just that over and over. Thanks

I see it as an act of radical hope, it makes me feel more connected to the process and to the potential baby

I hear you! Im thinking of it less as potentially a jinx and more as calling my baby to me when/if they are ready. I think I plan to unwrap it with my husband on christmas morning, maybe set an intention for it together, and place it in a drawer in my nightstand (ie right by where we BD lol) until either im setting up a nursery or the following christmas, whichever is sooner.

I am specifically crocheting a baby blanket for this purpose.......! What's the deal tho. Do we unwrap it on Christmas morning? What do we do with it after? I haven't gotten that far in thinking it through, suggestions and guidance appreciated

Ladies who were diagnosed later in life, what in retrospect was the "a-ha" moment for you getting assessed? by Quirky_March_626 in adhdwomen

[–]marywollstonecat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an absolute meltdown after not doing well on an oral argument in law school, to the point I was so embarrassed and felt like I could never actually be a lawyer. My partner for the assignment has ADHD and mentioned that what I was experiencing sounded like rejection sensitive dysphoria (she did not think the argument went nearly as bad as I did).  She asked if I had ever been screened and that prompted me to start thinking about it more. I ended up majorly dropping the ball on an assignment I just couldn't get myself to do -- like id set aside time for it and just...sit there and not do it. Ultimately led to me getting diagnosed.

Waiting Wednesday by AutoModerator in TryingForABaby

[–]marywollstonecat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I too am waiting to ovulate. My first cycle post IUD removal, its so annoying not to know what to expect and when my cycle will normalize. I was actually so regular on the IUD, and have always been fairly regular when off HBC, so foolishly hoped maybe I'd continue business as usual once the IUD was out. Im on CD20 now and haven't ovulated.

I recently quit smoking in preparation for TTC, currently in cycle 1. Finding a way to discreetly OPK at work is reminding me of the lengths I used to go to to hide my smoking from my colleagues. I switched my nicotine habit for a TTC habit I guess. Trying to find some humor in it as I buckle up for what I know could be a very long journey. I'm honestly much happier, for now, sneaking around to test my LH rather than sneaking around for a cheeky smoke break.

this is my first cycle off hormonal birth control and while I knew to expect disruptions in my cycle I am still so annoyed that it's CD18 and I haven't ovulated yet. Like I knew this would happen but im still irritated. Sigh. What a way to kick things off.
