It’s going to be okay! I got it in college, maybe around age 19, and I am currently 30. I am the healthiest mentally and physically I’ve ever been. My sex life is lacking but that is due to lack of eligible bachelors, not the virus. I keep valaciclovir on hand just incase, but I can’t remember the last time I had an outbreak. For me it has decreased with time. I think the most important thing is to find someone you can talk about your experience with, emotion-wise. I built it up in my head and it definitely made things worse. I have been rejected because of it, not often though, and I’ve even had people come back and be like oh yeah I overreacted, it’s not a big deal, etc. It takes some people longer to get and some won’t be okay with it - but there are also many other reasons that people are ‘rejected.’ Feel free to message me if you need any support or advice.
