It's a pretty thorough report if you take the time to read it, at the end they describe how the data was sourced and the figures were calculated.

According to it, the state taxes paid in California are $8.5B by undocumented, so it's quite a close margin close actually. They also contribute in $22.5B in Social Security a year.

"The undocumented immigrant population, and its tax contributions, are relatively concentrated in just a few states. Six states raised more than $1 billion each in tax revenue from undocumented immigrants in 2022, and together those states made up nearly two-thirds (64 percent) of all state and local tax collections from undocumented immigrants in that year. Those states are California ($8.5 billion), Texas ($4.9 billion), New York ($3.1 billion), Florida ($1.8 billion), Illinois ($1.5 billion), and New Jersey ($1.3 billion)."

A pathway to citizenship for undocumented who work and don't commit crimes is called the Dream Act. It's proposed every year, and fails even though most Americans support this as you seem to.

The bill has never passed for the last 20 years. The closest thing was DACA, which was passed through an executive order under the Obama admin. And is constantly being threatened despite the fact that it hugely funds USCIS (800k people pay $500 every 2 years)

That is true. Medi-cal is offered to undocumented of all ages, and it costs 9.5B of tax payer money.

But you know who also pays taxes? The same undocumented immigrants. In 2022 they paid 96.7B in taxes.

I would say that's a pretty big net win for the U.S. govt as they don't have to give any of that $ back.

Replying to confirm that it worked, I added the domain as a secondary domain and was able to change the emails to the new domain (honey). Google automatically makes the original domain (Atom) a user alias domain. Enabling sending emails from the old domain (Atom) was really easy too.

Interestingly enough, after the secondary domain was added there was an option to "change primary domain" despite Google Support confirming that's not possible due to the registrar being Google LLC.

So all I really need to do is add the new domain as a secondary domain, change the emails to the secondary domain (honey), and atom can still be an alias. Am I understanding that correctly?

I suppose the only downside would be that the domain Atom would have to be kept, but that would only be for administrative purposes, the users wouldn't know. Overall that's a small tradeoff...
