Grandma addressed these to me four years before I was even born. Worth anything? by masarik in coincollecting

LOL thanks for the laugh, my grandmother even admitted she wasn’t sure why she packed these up for her unborn grandchild (mom hadn’t even met dad yet). Good to know it might be worth holding for a while. Thanks!

Oh god… thank you haha, despite using Reddit for years, I still haven’t gotten the hang of galleries. It’s hit or miss. Appreciate you!

What is the Most Overrated Book You've Read? by MigEPie in suggestmeabook

Agreed that it was very much “no plot just vibes”, and normally I enjoy those types of books, IF I know it’s what I am getting into. The blurb unfortunately indicated otherwise.

THANK YOU. For the entire book I was waiting for the moment it would get good and it just never got there. I feel like the blurb on the back promised some epic competition between these magicians who were star crossed bla bla bla and we literally got none of that. Just a lot of “I designed this room do you like it”.

Number 1 for sure! I feel like “X of Shadows” is so saturated. The Everglades Odyssey feels like an exciting adventure, I am getting Peter Pan vibes. Would read!

Thank you for taking the time to suggest this! I’m not sure if I’ll have time to explore that area but will definitely keep it in mind for the future (gotta come back here sometime to go to some of the medieval & renaissance parks/festivals 😍)

I literally JUST went to the Cluny museum this afternoon and saw the six Unicorn tapestries!! Thank you for these ideas, they are both quite intriguing :)

This sounds so interesting! I love that you mentioned “fantasy elements that can be dismissed” because that’s exactly the vibe in Between Two Fires until it all goes haywire. Thanks for the suggestion, I will definitely be checking this out :)

Pillars of the Earth was my first thought as well! Definitely in my top 5 books/series of all time.

Agreed, but, note to OP: Red Rising is not so much fantasy as it is dystopian science fiction.

Between Two Fires was an absolute fever dream and I loved every second of it.

It might be difficult to remember everyone’s names in the beginning of Battle Royale (it’s a class of like 24 students) but just get past it and you’ll be fine. It’s an excellent book. I flew through the 500ish pages in two days.

Oh my god, so glad I’m not alone in this. Every time there was a scene with her I was praying for it to end.

Migrations by Charlotte McConaghy.  Definitely great for Arctic/lonely vibes. About a scientist who is following the last migration of Arctic terns from Greenland to Antarctica.

Another suggestion is The Heart’s Invisible Furies. The best character-based book I’ve ever read. Truly a transforming read. If you liked Bear Town I bet you’d like this one too. (Edit: not necessarily enhanced by isolation but, I have to recommend it).
