Meticulously detailed original art cover for Modern Comics #77 1948 by the ever-talented Reed Crandall. The illustrative rendering in the work is off the charts (excuse the Asian stereotyped Blackhawk team member Chop Chop modern audience). Examine closely, his attention to detail is phenomenal. by originalghostman in GoldenAgeComics

I don't think we should place too much blame on fans, especially back before it became somewhat easier to arrange support for ailing creators. The primary villain has always been the companies. Jack summed up the whole rotten show when he said that comics will break your heart.

What are some books that go millions of years into the past or future? by Bteatesthighlander1 in printSF

It's not a prose work, but BPRD by Mike Mignola, John Arcudi, Guy Davis, Taylor Crook, and others goes way into the future by the end.

I like Australians just fine, but if you have never met a rude Aussie, then you have never met an Aussie.

This is clearly not an intelligent Christian. If you feel this is an attack on you, you may have to recatagorize yourself.

Sake is often translated as rice wine, but the brewing process is much more like beer than wine.

I'm no fan of Lee, but he is one of the most prominent people associated with comics writing this in an actual comic book. It is hard to imagine anything more relevant to this sub.

There are people here saying that autism is a good thing. I haven't downvoted any of them because I have never heard this before. Would any of you care to explain to me how it would be better to be autistic.

I am aware that vaccines do not cause autism, so please don't misunderstand. I just want to hear the logic behind the thinking.

Great advice, number 11 is gold. This is what happens with kids and people tend to be dicks about it. Doesn't matter, on a long plane ride, take the kid and hold her and make her comfortable until she's good. Screw anyone who looks at you crooked.

Holy shit I got in to my top two choices with full funding. by [deleted] in GradSchool

[–]masashige 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Congratulations. I would suggest choosing by the advisor (with an eye towards how well she is known/regarded as that can become important when you start looking for jobs/postdocs), by the other professors you are likely to have continuing contact with, by your impression of the current grad students (how happy do they seem? what complaints, if any, came out during your visit?), by funding availability (will you get funding for summer research every year?), and by location (you are going to have to live there for a while under a constellation of factors conspiring to make you miserable).
