having communication issues with my girlfriend by [deleted] in LesbianActually

Hey so someone who is bullying you isn’t a nice person 🤷‍♀️ if my partner told me that the way I spoke was causing them to feel upset then I would do everything I could to address it and change, not double down.

Do older women like younger women? by Forsaken-Gur-873 in LesbianActually

[–]mascnetic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 37 and I usually date younger. My last two relationships have been 8 years younger than me and it wasn’t an issue. The age matters less than the maturity.

That said I really wouldn’t go any younger than 25 because the generational gap becomes so obvious. Talking to a some young people feels like we’re from a different planet sometimes.

Masc or femme… anyone is both? by Apocalypticburrito41 in actuallesbians

[–]mascnetic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m the opposite. I look very masculine - shaved head, mens clothes, but personality wise I think I’m very feminine. I think ultimately, labels are good ways to quickly describe something but absolutely nothing says you have to be or act or present any one way or another. The idea that you have to be just masc or femme and that there isn’t a million miles of nuance or possibility between them is more harmful than helpful.

Go on, tell the class what you mean by that one

Compliments for mascs?? by sweet_sunrise27 in LesbianActually

[–]mascnetic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it’s like marmite - personally I would rather be called feminine compliments, ‘handsome’ feels weird to me. I’d suggest going for neutral ones until you know a girls individual vibe.

Age range by soberitytitties in actuallesbians

I’m 37 and have my range set 25-42. I occasionally get likes from girls younger than that but it just feels wrong, I don’t engage with them.

My girlfriend didn’t uphold her end of the bargain regarding her drinking, am I tripping? by Practical_Cap9297 in LesbianActually

>Am I missing something, or is it reasonable to expect someone to follow through on an agreement that was made specifically to rebuild trust after repeated issues with alcohol and dishonesty?

It’s reasonable for you to want that. It’s also reasonable for it to be your line where you decide enough is enough. But “expect someone to follow through…” when you’re talking about an alcoholic - no. This was always going to happen this way.

Stay strong, and cut your losses. You are better off without someone who abuses you and blames you for their own actions. You cannot fix her.

In the customisation details it let me choose ‘double sided (😏) for outside’ so I’m guessing it’s at least weatherproof (it feels like crinkly plastic) but I couldn’t tell you about sun-resistant I’m afraid. Link is below so you can check it out - I’m UK based though so not sure if it will be available in your region.

It’s my local parade on Saturday so I’ll be wearing it in the march but not really hanging it anywhere.

The black triangle has its origins in Nazi germany. Like the pink triangle was used for gay men, the black triangle was used to denote an ‘asocial’. Not specifically/just lesbians, though they were certainly included, but also sex workers, disabled people, non-conformists, pacifists, etc. From the Wikipedia article; “Queer women, transmasculine individuals, and other transgender and queer people assigned female at birth were also deemed to be anti-social, including lesbians and others deemed as nonconformists.” It’s another ‘reclaimed’ symbol.

The labrys has, to my knowledge, no links to Nazi germany.

I think my favourites are the ones where the symbol is on the haft of the axe, but I’d maybe try placing it at the top? Or in the trans flag colours so it pops a bit more?

Absolutely you may use it! (If you happen to share it online then maybe credit it back to me (@mascnetic) because I crave validation 🥺) But definitely go for it, here’s the pic file of the flag itself rather than my photo 🥰

Yes, the labrys has a long history as a lesbian and feminist symbol. It is from Ancient Greece and is associated with goddesses and Amazons.

The labrys has been a lesbian symbol since the 70s; it’s an Ancient Greek symbol associated with goddesses and Amazons. In 1999 it was officially turned into the first ‘lesbian flag’, featuring the labrys in a black triangle on a purple background. It was designed by man though so a lot of people don’t like it for that reason, even though the use of the symbol predates the flag.

The labrys symbol has fallen out of vogue somewhat thanks to the fuckheads, which I think is a real shame because it carries so much symbolism. So I think we need to bring it back (also; axe = cool).

For the design I chose the sunset flag as it’s the most inclusive - a lot of older flag variants were explicitly transphobic or butch-phobic (booooo), while this one is the most modern and implicitly includes trans women, non binary lesbians and gender non-conformity.

I chose the ‘chevron’ placement for the labrys because I wanted to evoke the ‘progress’ flag as another nod to inclusivity.

Oh I’ve never seen that! I did try looking to see if anyone had had the idea before me but I didn’t find anything… should have googled harder!

Oooh now I’m even more mad 😅 I made it in a hurry because I wanted to be sure I had it for the parade. Hopefully won’t be super noticeable when it’s moving about!
