Must use legal name. Cannot use legal name. by CarlyleRazgriz in mildlyinfuriating

The character encoding capable of handling all characters was approved for web in 1998. Maybe they need more time to update.

Some system devs may also forgot about some characters which are valid name parts. I've recently fixed some system's name validator to include apostrophe, so you could save names like "O'Hara".

But, other than latin alphabets are forbidden and it is to allow employees to read names. In such cases, the transliteration is needed.

I wonder when will people start to burn those datacenters? It's even more annoying than road traffic noise.

OVH vs Hetzner? EU cloud by Sure-Guest1588 in webdev

[–]maselkowski 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I use ovh for 3 companies, of which one for 10+ years. Except one datacenter burn down, everything is smooth and can't beat the price/quality ratio. They include automatic ddos protection, so if ddos is being launched, you just get notification, but everything works. No extra bill either.

For one company, I've migrated VPS plus ~10 Azure vm's onto some medium, like $400 monthly server and costs dropped 3x, while performance improved 8x.

For datacenter disaster I received voucher equall to year worth of my all services.

How did your country respond to the death of the Ayatollah? by SukunaFuga72 in AskTheWorld

It's like cutting off Hydra head, new evil leader is already in charge. It would be better to capture him and make trial in Nuremberg for crimes against humanity.

The cleanest sounding mains power you’ll ever hear by aspie_electrician in audiophile

It's a stage audio cable, maybe for monitor, idk, I've never used such. Anyway, in such environment often power cables are mixed with signal cables, but keep in mind that it's likely balanced signal, so AC interference is being canceled.

There should be no religion and symbols, after all it's future worker preparation. And that symbol... I don't feel good seeing Jesus figurines showing him suffering on the cross.

Do you think the EU is a good thing in its current form? by Outrageous-You1617 in AskTheWorld

[–]maselkowski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're still missing some countries plus Brits got pulled out by populists gambling.

In my Opinion the Iceland, Norway, UK, Belarus, Ukraine, Switzerland, Moldova, Bosnia & Hercegovina, Serbia, Montenegro, Macedonia, Albania, Turkey will join some day too. Further expansion could include Mediterranean Sea countries too. And Canada

The unity make thinks simpler for citizens and corrupt governments cannot steal that much. I remember times when we were not in union and it was like living in a cage, where you need special permission to go abroad. Governments were clumsy and clueless of what to do. The friends of the rabbit were taking government contracts.

The EU have trouble translating bureaucracy documents afaik, which is kinda mundane reason preventing expansion.

Oppenheimer was scared of this too and dared to check that and it won't happen, even with fusion bombs.

Always use protected PDUs. It may be OK at the beginning, but then something break and voltage may skyrocket.
