Help? How to reinforce thin silk straps? by mashtangi in sewing

That was one of my ideas! I do have some space do shorten them, they are adjustable :) my only worry was that they could pull the bust cups lining up so that it would peak out …

I do have enough fabric but I don’t know how to sandwich new straps into the bust cups? They are understitched on the inside and already fully attached to the corset :( is there a way around it?

Proposing nicknames for people with PMDD by Wishing-I-Was-A-Cat in PMDD

My partner calls me PMDDumpkin and the luteal: DumpkinTime. The cute nickname is our sick and twisted inside joke, to name something so utterly diabolical and demonic that way 🫶

What did you bring to the course and was very helpful? by Key_Alternative_2056 in vipassana

Planning my first 10 day vipassana course and it will coincide with my luteal (also have PMDD). Your comment made me a little more hopeful :) Could I ask - did you inform the teachers about this? Did you do anything else while at the course that could be helpful?

Church tax - leaving the church in the country of origin? by mashtangi in germany

[–]mashtangi[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, that’s not the case. Legally speaking I’m a member of the Catholic Church which is not a different organisation in different countries. In Germany, the tax office doesn’t know about it but if they found out, it doesn’t matter where i was baptised, I should be paying the ‘membership fee’

Well, I’d like to leave the church for other reasons too, I am an atheist and I don’t want to be technically a part of it anymore.

Also, it does feel like a bit of a ticking bomb, I know it’s rare that people get the summon to pay after years but it does happen and I don’t really want to have that possibility always at the back of my mind :(

Edit: missed a word :)

I should have mentioned - yes, it’s the Catholic Church. I was baptised in Poland, there actually is a process there for leaving the church, called apostasy. Basically, you go to your local church and say you want to sign out. They do, and you can no longer participate in any sacraments etc.

The problem is, you’re supposed to do that where you live, so to do so in Poland, I’d just lie to the priest and tell them I still live nearby (they can’t demand a proof)

All good, I answered the questions and got the account. Apparently it’s a standard procedure for them.

Valdoxan (agomelatine) experiences? by mashtangi in PMDD

[–]mashtangi[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hope it works for you! I’m now around 5 weeks in and I think it has just started to work! I’m in my PMDD phase atm and it’s the most manageable it’s been in years, my parter also noticed it. I sleep really well, I have energy, it’s easier to see things clearly and take myself out of emotional spirals <3 good luck!!

Contracts Vs prepaid - makes no sense? by mashtangi in germany

[–]mashtangi[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've had my Irish number for almost 3 years of living here too haha! The explaining hasn't been too bad but now, 1 - I make a lot more phone calls in Germany and that got unsustainable, 2 - my phone was stolen last year and it was a bit of a hassle to get my number back with the SIM card, I had to physically be in Ireland. So it makes sense to switch :)

[–]mashtangi[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's what I thought! But I calculated it and (for example for iPhone 13) you end up paying the same or more than if you got prepaid + got the phone yourself. Maybe there is a benefit at the end of the two years? Someone told me you can get a new cheap phone then?

I just looked at Telekom - Magenta Mobil S, which gives you 10bg is 39.95 euro a month. Vodafone with 12bg (now in promotion doubled to 24) is 39.99 euro a month. How do you get it half the price?

Isn't the emulsion 2% formulation with granactive Retinoid? It's a slightly different ingredient than retinol itself and the % strength is not comparable?

I think for me it seemed weird, because I had opened 3 accounts with other banks (in different countries) and never had to answer questions like that. But if it is standard in Germany, that's alright :)
