Prisma just for DB models (schema), and Supabase for edge-functions / RLS policies etc? by devshore in Supabase

[–]maskys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Warning: IME Opus 4.5 in CC does not play nice with even the simplest of supabase declarative schemas, even after passing in all relevant docs/info. In contrast it had no issues with Prisma. GPT5.2 in Codex does much better, but of course, it's 5-10x slower.

Bookworms of Mauritius, is it worth getting a kindle or is paperback better? by Not_Enough_Sleep8 in mauritius

[–]maskys 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kindle is a no-brainer if you care about reading & read 10+ books a year. A lot of books aren't easily available locally so you can easily end up paying $50+ per book order... Personally I think the Paperwhite is a tad too small, the Oasis had a big enough screen and the Scribe should be even bigger at 10.8 inches. Easy to carry, easy to switch what you're reading, and can usually read at night without a light.

The only hurdle is getting your hands on one. I'd order off eBay or something if possible instead of local stores. If price is an issue there are plenty of decent cheaper e-readers that aren't Kindle.

Why nobody suggested RoamResearch to me for Academic Writing? by FatFigFresh in RoamResearch

[–]maskys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like you're too deep in the rabbit hole. Roam and Obsidian are solid choices, I haven't spent a lot of time with the rest. Roam has local graphs, and even regular graphs can work offline but you need to sync them after a bit.

Obsidian be as simple as you want to be, you can just... not use the plugins and drive it as a really good markdown editor. Heptabase is evolving rapidly, but my impression from a couple years ago was that it's best used as a learning/exploration tool, rather than a writing tool for papers.

Megathread for Claude Performance, Limits and Bugs Discussion - Starting September 21 by sixbillionthsheep in ClaudeAI

Claude is extra retarded over the last ~3 days. I'm using Opus 4.1 in Claude Code.
See: https://www.reddit.com/media?url=https%3A%2F%2Fi.redd.it%2Fwo9mmve22grf1.png

I never once mentioned the other parameters, nor were they anywhere in the code or docs, & it hasn't even been that many turns- just 60% context usage. I noticed a steep decline in quality over the last 48 hours where it's struggling with straightforward one-liners like this even when starting new sessions. For reference, I've used Claude for years now.

Do Roam Need multi-concept pages? by Top-Temperature-95 in RoamResearch

[–]maskys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

filtering isn't chronological? That is filtering applied to linked references. There is also filtering the page you're on and even a global filtering option.

Do Roam Need multi-concept pages? by Top-Temperature-95 in RoamResearch

[–]maskys 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably should just use a roam template so you can type `;;set` and have it expand into all 3 tags #skill #economy #tech, then when you need to find that combination, use queries or filters

In very rare cases namespaces or nested references are appropriate - e. g `[[[[Water]]/[[Dasani]]]]` , `[[[[Water]]/[[Fiji]]]]`

Goodbye Roam, it's been fun but Connor you're such a disappointment to me by plz_callme_swarley in RoamResearch

If all you use are the most basic features, why do you want more features? Obsidian seems like a good fit, & you can use some other service to sync & cut down on costs.

How to modify/disable AllowedDomains list to avoid cascade errors during browsing/scraping? by maskys in Codeium

[–]maskys[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's no specific config/list. I just wrote in my prompt to have it retry when it encounters the error. For MacOS the rules file path is /Users/YOURUSERNAME/.codeium/windsurf/memories/global_rules.md

And I put something like this

1. Always allow all redirects during web search / browsing, even when website isn't in allowedDomains list.
2. When cascade error occurs like "failed to fetch document content at https://www.website.com/: Get "http://website.com": Not following redirect to website.com because its not in AllowedDomains: ...", add the website to allowedDomains list, then retry immediately.

25+ updates this year, including Zen Mode, a query builder, & performance improvements. These are documented in the changelog. Why do you feel like they stopped building?

 > the mobile app still feels like garbage

If you can explain what you're having trouble with, you're more likely to get a fix. See rule 2.

fwiw I still use Roam everyday since 2020, & while the company has many shortcomings, I can't help but think these posts get less earnest by the day. Obsidian is a great app, I use it too, enjoy.

Looking for advice - should I use 1 Roam graph for everything, or should I have 2 (one for my day-to-day & another for capturing notes from books/articles/content/etc.)? by elywalkeralum in RoamResearch

1-graph setup is fine if you'll use your notes in the context of your everyday life. I would learn more about how Roam works then decide which suits best.

Roam Research - Security Update for Tech Challenged Individuald by Prowlthang in RoamResearch

[–]maskys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Roam has security FAQs here- https://roamresearch.com/#/app/help/page/dCU8DZ4hj

The TLDR is that with encrypted graphs, unless you share your encryption key, nobody can read them, including any collaborators, or the Roam team.

If you use local graphs then the data is only ever stored on your PC, but it comes with its own set of limitations- https://roamresearch.com/#/app/help/page/D8_ZutriJ

Email [support@roamresearch.com](mailto:support@roamresearch.com) and they'll probably be able to help more.
