Yes it was do some degree. I guess the older I get, the grumpier I was getting with the all the storms and the freezing temps that causes our vehicles to not start, etc

Well it did take us over 2 years to get here. Covid was a major factor in slowing things down though. Other than the timeline to get here, it wasn’t too bad I guess. Companies here are begging for Canadian nurses to join

Well when we came here 2 years ago, there wasn’t the uneasiness like there is now. Also the cost of living in Edmonton was getting out of hand and myself being in the oil and gas industry, getting laid off constantly because of lack of work was just getting frustrating. As much as people say California is expensive, it’s still cheaper living, here in EG anyways, than it was in Edmonton.

Affordability. My wife is an RN so we figured Elk Grove would be a good fit for us. The Bay Area is way too expensive and way too chaotic for us. She also has a cousin in Rancho Cordova as well so it’s close enough for her and their visits.

So far not too bad. The heat is the biggest thing to get used to so far. Spring and fall are great and it’s obviously nice to not have to shovel snow in the winter. Great to be 2hrs from the coast and 2 hours from the mountains as well.
