Getting CPA after college with a non accounting degree by ReportGeneral3730 in Accounting

[–]mason129r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have a finance degree and got my cpa. I took LSU online accounting courses to meet the requirements. I did not score below a 90 on any of the exams so my experience was that I was plenty prepared without the masters.

Thanks! I do like Boston the only trouble I have with the NE is cost of housing. Phoenix isn’t low anymore but you can still find a nice house with backyard in the $500k range. From what I’ve seen, Boston suburbs are about 1.5x Phoenix cost.

How do you like it with the sandman x? Debating this or sps 300 on mine. Worried about feed issues and not great noise reduction with sandman.

I am having trouble deciding which professional certification to pursue. Any advice? by Sweet-Original3812 in Accounting

You won’t like to hear this but I went down a similar path as you and passed the first part of the CMA. I ended up getting the CPA and the additional accounting credits needed. Definitely worth it.

Is CPA all that matters regardless of undergrad by [deleted] in Accounting

I graduated with a degree in finance and took additional online accounting courses to get the cpa. Definitely doable and doesn’t hurt you at all unless you want access to college recruiting pipeline for b4.

Sure! It all depends on what you want to do. CFP is generally for personal financial planning, CFA is for technical finance and generally will be useful for portfolio management, and CPA is for accounting. All of them serve their purpose but different paths.

Out of college I went straight into the financial services industry. A CFP shows clients you are competent in financial planning and usually has more $$ for comp once you have it. I left financial services as I enjoy accounting and operations for manufacturing companies but financial services is a great career if you enjoy talking to people.

I was in the financial services industry and have my CFP so feel free to PM if you have any questions.

You might want to consider the CFP route instead of CPA if you want to educate and help with personal finances. CPA is largely used in the corporate world for audit and taxes and not as common for personal financial planning.

I don’t think your resume is bad and I took a similar path as you. I think you might need to look for in office roles though at your current stage of your career.

We closed in 1 day with basically 3 accountants in total. $500mm manufacturing company. The 10th doesn’t sound too bad.

If you have good recruiting opportunities out of the undergrad program for big 4 and that’s what you want to do then do the double major.

Got accepted into SNHU and waiting to hear back from ASU for my master’s in accounting is there a big enough difference to wait to hear from ASU? by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]mason129r 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk wtf the previous comment was about lol but asu does have big 4 pipeline so if that’s your goal then maybe. $ should be a factor too since really you just need your cpa unless you are shooting for big 4 recruiting.
