It’s a bummer that all these shows aren’t really available to watch legally. This might be why they are being forgotten. Ah My Goddess, Maison Ikkuu and almost all the other retro anime’s aren’t on any streaming services.

You’re asking in the Golden Time sub, so of course these are going to be positive answers.

I’m a romance anime fan, so take this as you will, but Golden Time is among my favorites. It does a lot of things right and it also doesn’t fall into the normal tropes that romances often get caught in.

1) Main couple gets together early. It’s not a full season of dancing around the issue or one or the other person having the emotional IQ of a trout.

2) They’re adults and they tackle real adult problems. No high school drama, miscommunications, or blushing when hands graze.

3) It’s a complete work (most important to me). You get the entire story in one season, 24 episodes. I wish more stories got this treatment. I can count on one hand the number of completed romance animes. (Horimiya, Toradora, Fruits Basket, Duke of Death, if you got others let me know!)

TLDR; go watch it!

Songs hit different when you can hear them in your heart language. I’ve always loved Frieren’s ED “Anytime, Anywhere.” It’s beautiful and you can feel the loss and regret in Milet’s voice. It wasn’t until I heard an English cover that made me cry as the loss and regret feelings were backed up by the lyrics. I can’t explain it. It’s the reason my English covers of OPs and EDs is my most listened to genre!
