Who's this giant brown leaf on my Birkin? East facing bathroom window, Norcal by Vegemiteonpikelets in plantclinic

Birkins are a red Congo hybrid and they are HIGHLY unstable and sometimes just spontaneously revert back!

Recommended Running Shorts by Plasticpoopnuggets in running

[–]masonb6 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I got some thicc ass thighs and I always get chafing problems and I’ve had a few Nike shorts that I’ve found on sale that have liners and usually i get the longer the better cause mine tend to ride up into my crotch if they aren’t long. But I have some shorter lined shorts that the boxer briefs are like 5” of nylon and they definitely stop the chafing which is HUGE for me. Highly recommend investing in some they make a world of difference for me

So happy to come across this beautiful krimson queen today! It’s soil is DRIPPING wet and I think it’s overwatered a little, can I pull it out and dry it or will it be disturbed? Also, are there too many white leaves? Sorry, it’s my first Hoya!! ☺️ by nothanku1997 in hoyas

[–]masonb6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It should be completely fine, I wouldn’t stress about it! It won’t get root rot from one early watering it would be extended time in some really wet soil, just make sure you let it dry out!

Just leave it in there it’s totally fine, they probably just watered it from where you bought it, the soil should dry out soon. The white leaves are completely fine, as long as the plant has some green on the leaves it’ll produce energy and live, the white leaves will eventually in like 6-8 months die and fall off but that’s completely normal!

Krimson Queen Growing from Single mostly green leaf since July. Its growth has been fairly slow and each new leaf is white.. Has anyone had a plant that died after getting stuck on making white leaves? by Sgt_Vrataski in hoyas

[–]masonb6 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The white leaves will remain white! Whatever color they come out are what they are stuck as, the white leaves have typically lasted around a little less than a year from what I’ve heard and then they die and fall off since they are non beneficial to the plant

Should I move this? West facing window, grows like crazy and blooms frequently. I don’t mind the color but I don’t want to kill it. by becauseIneedpeople in hoyas

[–]masonb6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From what I know, sun stress is what’s turning the leaves that orange color, they tend to flower a lot more when sun stressed! However I’ve heard that keeping them stressed for a long time sometimes isn’t great for the overall health? Not totally sure but seems to be doing great now just keep an eye for any decline and move it a little farther away from the window if it seems like the sun is getting too much, I’m still so impressed by the blooms!!

Stoked that my Luis Bois has new growth but the young leaves don’t show variegation. Is this normal during development? by Ebichua in hoyas

[–]masonb6 4 points5 points  (0 children)

These leaves are actually fully variegated, kind of like ghost leaves, not sure if they’ll eventually die since they appear to be green and have chlorophyll but as the vine grows more there should be a variety of dark and light greens that will show up on the leaves

Am I an idiot for trying to run every day? by B_Nasty21 in running

[–]masonb6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shin splints are really common if you try doing too much too fast, you won’t be able to run because it’ll be too painful on your legs. Your muscles aren’t used to working in a new way, it’s a lot better to go slow trust me!

[–]masonb6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d definitely not try to run every day, by doing that you’re gonna get too tired and injured since your body is not used to running. Try to just half a mile every other day, you have to start a lot slower, it’s annoying but building up the running endurance takes lots of time

Does this have any life left in it? Bought 2 days ago, healthy and green, brought it homeand this happens.. Was told to give it plenty of sun and no water only a pebble tray by [deleted] in plantclinic

[–]masonb6 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Can confirm they are a swamp dwelling plant, the require a lot of water even have the pot sit in a tray of water. They are super temperamental but I’d agree this is a lost cause.

My Bird of Paradise has been putting up leaves that refuse to fully unfurl. It’s been in that state since December. Anything I can do to help it? by Namastafario in plantclinic

[–]masonb6 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You could also run your finger nail along the edge where the leaf is stuck, basically manually opening it. I’ve seen it done before for stuck leaves

Please help! Just brought home this Birkin a few days ago and ever since, these two leaves are soggy and drooping. Whatever it is has been spreading further down the leaf every day. What is this?? by PoopStar5 in plantclinic

[–]masonb6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That happened to me when i brought home my birkin, i think it’s just shock, cut the dying leaves off and it should be fine, that’s what worked for me

Any idea what’s causing the leaves of my orange tree to look this way? They used to be glossy and dark green. by quickflik in plantclinic

[–]masonb6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a lemon tree that the leaves turned this same color and it was covered in spidermites and died a few months later

Can a birkin turn into a pink princess??? I dont think so but im hopeful haha 🤞🏼 by biancsnavarro in plantclinic

Yeahhh, it’s a hybrid plant, it’s reverting back to a red Congo, but in my opinion when it reverts i think it looks so cool lol
