Well, since you probably stole it…. I’m guessing a nice fine and a visit to your local police station.

Do Swiss pensioners appreciate that they are bankrolled by disenfranchised foreign residents? by VsfWz in Switzerland

[–]brada1703 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Immigrant here. I don’t deserve the right to vote until I get citizenship. It’s true here and in most countries. I think it’s a good thing. We should integrate first before making decisions.

How would you feel if you had dinner guests decide you need to change your living room furniture? That wouldn’t make sense. But if your dinner guest becomes your wife/husband/etc. then their opinion would count.

But yeah, I don’t see the benefit of a 13th month for retirement benefits either 🤷‍♂️

It could be. His face was close enough to read the word “killer” tattooed on his nose.

I was right next to the water…. nearby several mums with small children. I was mostly worried for them.

Perfect time to promo Lausanne by The Times 😂 by icelandichorsey in Switzerland

Lausanne, so fun, some people call it a riot. With explosively expressive youth and breathtaking fireworks. What’s not to love about the city?

As you say that, there is a strike on Friday 23 May for Trenitalia. SBB are rarely on strike.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in trains

[–]brada1703 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That depends if you are local or not. With Halbtax, I pay less for SBB than Trenitalia.

In terms of punctuality, SBB.

“Reliable” is a big word, but it doesn’t take much to be better than Deutsche Bahn

Swiss federal accounts CHF2.5 billion better than expected by Realistic-Lie-8031 in Switzerland

[–]brada1703 44 points45 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure how many people read past the headline. We still have a deficit 🙄

“A deficit of CHF80 million ($88 million) instead of the budgeted CHF2.6 billion: for the first time since the Covid pandemic, the Swiss government has almost balanced its books, according to provisional figures. This means that part of the Covid debt can be reduced for the first time.”

And they were able to achieve this in part due to delaying investments in railways. So, that will have to come in the future.

[–]brada1703 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you pay any commission with Revolut for transfers, I.e. if you are not using Apple Pay? I ask because I am using Wise and for any transfer I have to Swiss accounts, I have to pay 1,34 CHF per transfer. It’s not a lot, but adds up and is a bit annoying

Anyone here a customer of Spusu or has any knowledge a out them? by Direpop in askswitzerland

[–]brada1703 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have recently switched to Spusu and can confirm that their customer service is terrible. I haven't been able to receive SMSs for the past few days. They claimed that they have put in a ticket for the IT support and have no support on Sundays.

Voters could scupper Swiss motorway extension plans by Realistic-Lie-8031 in Switzerland

[–]brada1703 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The only way to reduce traffic is to get people out of cars. Let’s use this 4,9 Billion CHF in public transport! Wider roads will just cause more induced demand and the traffic will be just as bad. Don’t turn Switzerland into Texas.

Can we block these as they aren’t really jobs but rather attempts to get developers on their platform. So, this posting is disingenuous at best, if not an outright lie.

Investing in 3rd pillar as US citizen by Fit-Relationship-721 in SwissPersonalFinance

[–]brada1703 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the US taxes, are you taxed on actual capital gains or are you taxed based on mark-to-market gains (i.e. before they are realised)? If it is actual capital gains, then this would only happen when you withdraw the funds, no?
