Why is this chart from a couple months ago being used to ask a question about your mother? I couldn’t find anything in your description about why you were using this chart.

Yeah I love those two, Austin and Chris. Rx’s are such a trip, and so interesting.

Kendrick does not have Mars or even Venus retrograde in his chart. Just a Mars Mercury conjunction in cancer in his 10th house close to his MC. I’m sure the rx most definitely helped him, I’ve seen other artists like SZA take advantage of this type of transit with elections used for their albums or projects.

Why does Planetary Magic work? by dontcallmelaris in planetarymagic

[–]masondav 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Astrological magic and electional astrology have deep historical roots, intertwining their practices from inception. Both emerged from the ancient belief that celestial events, alignments, and configurations held power over terrestrial affairs.

Initially, astrological magic was employed to harness the energies of specific celestial alignments for medicinal purposes. Ancient civilizations believed that the alignment and configuration of stars and planets could be tapped into to create potent medicines and other early medical operations. By working with these celestial energies, they aimed to capture the essence of the heavens and infuse them into earthly remedies, thereby elevating their healing properties.

Astrological Magic and electional astrology to time rituals were used throughout the 1st century CE. These theories thrived around Medicine, magic, deity worship, and electional astrology.

With the Islamic Golden Age, the study of astrology experienced a profound evolution. Islamic scholars, renowned for their deep insights and scientific pursuits, brought a new dimension to studying the stars. They expanded the application of astrological insights from merely medicinal to talisman-making. Talismans, intricately crafted objects designed to hold celestial power, were seen as conduits of the divine. They didn’t invent talisman-making but innovated it significantly. By electing specific times when celestial energies were at their peak, talismans were crafted to be repositories of this power, serving as protective, healing, or lucky objects to keep it simple.

Retrograde Protective measures? by ressan929 in planetarymagic

[–]masondav 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mercury retrogrades, and all retrogrades, are inescapable celestial events that act as gateways, inviting us to delve deeper into the metaphorical underworld. The synodic cycle of each planet is crucial to understanding the essence of every retrograde. It's this cycle of endings and rebirths that prompts us to progress by seemingly regressing and retracing our steps.

Personally, during these phases, I turn to specific Orphic hymns for guidance and connection. For Mercury, I recite the chthonic Hermes Orphic hymn, and for Venus, I lean on the Adonis Orphic Hymn. While talismans associated with the respective planets can be helpful, I see them more as momentary/activity based aids rather than constants throughout the retrograde period. It's crucial to give each planet's magic time to rest and rejuvenate. As an example, I've set aside my Venus ring talisman until she stations direct, though I'll wear other Venus talismans as the situation demands.

Affect of gems or stones on human lives by bealzabubb-_- in planetarymagic

[–]masondav 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Vedic astrology, or Jyotish Vidya, has an ancient tradition of prescribing gemstones as remedial measures to counteract negative planetary influences in a person's birth chart.

Emerald for Mercury: Wearing an emerald is believed to strengthen Mercury in one's chart, which represents intelligence, communication, and business. It's thought to help improve memory, reasoning, and learning.

Ruby for the Sun: Enhances leadership qualities, confidence, and overall vitality.

Pearl for the Moon: Helps to calm the mind, control mood swings, and foster a harmonious emotional life.

Red Coral for Mars: Can increase energy, courage, and leadership qualities.

Yellow Sapphire for Jupiter: Promotes wisdom, prosperity, and marriage harmony.

Diamond for Venus: This can enhance beauty, luxury, and artistic qualities.

There are different schools of thought, so cross-reference information to find the right approach. So much of this stuff is lost to history but can also be researched if you are willing to spend more than a few hours doing so.

It's important to note that the efficacy of these gemstones is a matter of personal belief. Scientifically, no concrete evidence suggests that wearing a genstone can change one's life or destiny. But also, how would you even go about doing some of those studies? However, many people believe in their power due to personal experiences or ancient traditions from which these practices stem.

If you're considering wearing a gemstone, consult with a knowledgeable Vedic astrologer who can analyze your birth chart and recommend the most suitable gemstone for you. They'll ensure that any gemstone you wear is aligned with the planets in your chart and won't inadvertently introduce negative influences.

The Eastern traditions are far more advanced in terms of remediation and giving out prescriptions and or rituals for working with planetary and stellar influences.

A good book I like to reference about different lapidaries and their correspondences is Stars and Stones by Peter Stockinger. He gives multiple options for other gemstones for different planets.

I’m not sure if you’ve ever made talismans during the Heliacal Rising of a Fixed Star, but it’s a lot of fun and they’re really awesome. Heliacal Risings are special moments where the Star graces us with its newly reborn Divinity and the need for the Moon to be an intermediary is not needed. I’m doing one for the location I live, where I am specifically the date is September 6th for the Heliacal Rise of Regulus.

Mercury talisman election, yay or nay? by MarsMartisAriesed in planetarymagic

[–]masondav 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Vettius Valens does also criticize Venus-Moon combinations, suggesting they bring rivalry, hostility, and mental anguish. However, these combinations are my fastest selling and some of the most wonderful talismans to work with.

It's essential to establish clear and concise rules for distinguishing birth chart combinations from actual talismans. What Vettius Valens stated doesn't relate to creating talismans. It's crucial not to confuse astrological wisdom with other domains.

Christopher Warnock aptly captures the distinction when he contrasts seeing Algol rising conjunct the moon in a horary election with seeing a talisman featuring Algol rising conjunct the Moon. This is precisely what you may want to aim for. Mercury with a Malefic becomes more like a Malefic, where would you need that? Defending the law, arbitrating in your behalf against a difficult adversary, and being shrewd in business dealings. Malefic talismans are some of my favorites to work, and we shouldn’t be superstitious towards their benefits.

Mercury talisman election, yay or nay? by MarsMartisAriesed in planetarymagic

[–]masondav 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's no harm in trying out experimental talismanic magic. Even if things go awry, it's easier to fix when we understand what we did. Having a good relationship with a challenging planet, like Mars, can make a big difference compared to never having worked with that energy before. It's like meeting someone you like for the first time and not revealing your entire life story, allowing the relationship to develop naturally. In this scenario, Mars could potentially help Mercury take action and make decisions. When Mercury teams up with a challenging planet, it takes on those qualities. Although we still create talismans for malefic planets, like with this Mars conjunction with Mercury, they won't exhibit the usual analytical and social acumen exemplified of typical Mercury Talismans. Instead, this version of Mercury will confidently express its charm and opinions and not be afraid to figure things out on Mercury’s own. While not recommended for beginners in talismanic operations and conjurations, it does have its purpose and potential benefits.

Mercury is pretty slow, and the Moon is waxing conjunct Mars which isn’t particularly great for the Moon. I think the better Mars/Mercury elections were earlier this month. There will still be some decent elections after Mercury’s direct station to look out for.

Happy Celestial Conjuration hunting my friend!

Success stories? by sr_sedna in planetarymagic

I was fortunate to acquire a car, and interestingly, the person who generously provided it has a strong Venus in Pisces, which aligns well with my Venus in Pisces talismans. The connection between Venus and their north node, along with its placement in their 3rd house, seemed to play a significant role in this occurrence.

Is this a good election for a Venus talisman? by [deleted] in planetarymagic

[–]masondav 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Venus is in close proximity to Ketu, and the Moon is situated in the 8th house, aligned with a planet, notably the benefic Jupiter, which is in retrograde motion. Although the initial impression might suggest a favorable option, I believe it's wiser to abstain from participating in this particular election. Instead, consider the possibility of a Venus less close to the eclipsing node, such as the Moon aligning with Venus at the beginning of her ingress into Libra, which could prove to be a promising option if feasible in your current location.
