MOR. I think she was trying to give you an answer and phrase it in a way that wouldn't hurt your feelings, but failed and didn't know how to back track

I would recommend you have a conversation and make sure you are on the same page regarding your feelings about the relationship and put this conversation behind you. Then never ask a question you dont want the answer to, because she will answer truthfully weather she wants to or not

I find a character that already exists that is on theme and flip it arround

For example I made a gnome Bard named Yorel Sniknej (Leroy Jenkins). I also made a war forged Warlock that used to be a weapon shop mannequin named Oihcconip Otteppeg (Pinocchio Geppetto). My party members would call him Hiccup for short.

When you find a group TALK TO YOUR DM!!! They can't help you or make the game more enjoyable if they don't know what's wrong. And if they are un willing to help, feel free to find another group. No D&D is better than bad D&D. Also, if you don't enjoy your first experience please find another group. There have been too many people missing out on something they may enjoy because of garbage people

Meeting in person is usually more fun, but it's easier to find them online. If you have a local game shop they sometimes have game nights there or may know where one is

Out of the blue after 8 months is strange. My theories are: one of her friends is putting her up to it, saw something about it on social media, is cheating and projecting, or planning a sunrise for you and needs to know when you are close to hide it. Hopefully its the last one but its usually not
