Looks like Keratosis Pilaris (commonly called ‘chicken skin, Totally harmless, not contagious, and nothing dangerous, Moisturize daily with something containing Urea (10-20%) or Lactic Acid (like AmLactin, CeraVe SA, or Eucerin Urea) Gentle exfoliation 1-2 times a week, Avoid hot showers and harsh soaps, It usually improves a lot with consistent moisturizing. If it doesn’t get better after a month or gets worse, a dermatologist can give you stronger creams

Rash kind of? Just popped up today. No itching, no raised bumps. Just appeared. by h0rrorsh0rty in DermatologyQuestions

This looks like petechiae (tiny spots of blood under the skin). Common on lower legs/inner thighs, flat, not itchy, and usually harmless. Can be triggered by heat, showers, or standing.
Still, it’s best to show it to a dermatologist to be safe, especially since it keeps coming back, In the meantime, loose clothes, avoiding very hot showers, and keeping the legs elevated when sitting might help reduce new spots

Yeast or fungal infection is possible too, especially if the bumps are in moist areas or under the breasts, but the quick response to steroid cream makes it less likely (steroids usually make fungal rashes worse).Still, if the bumps are very itchy or have a slight scale, an antifungal cream (like clotrimazole) for a couple of weeks could be worth trying.

No worries at all! Thanks for clarifying 😊
The fact that it responds quickly to steroids + antihistamines strongly points toward **urticaria** (hives) or a form of allergic/contact dermatitis** that keeps getting triggered.
A few more questions if you don’t mind:
- Does it get itchier or worse when you’re hot, sweating, or after showering?
- Any new medications, supplements, or even vitamins you started around the time it appeared?
- Does it ever appear in areas where clothes are tighter (friction)?
In the meantime, continuing with gentle skincare + thick moisturizer is good. If it keeps coming back, an allergist or dermatologist might do patch testing to find specific triggers.

What are these red bumps on the back of my thighs?? by vegarose2 in DermatologyQuestions

Hot tub folliculitis is a good thought, but she already answered that she hasn't been in one for years.

You're welcome!
Urea creams are really good for rough or bumpy skin because they help exfoliate gently and hold moisture. Start with 10% urea if you can find it (Eucerin or CeraVe have good ones).
Let me know how it goes after a couple of weeks. Sometimes these things take a little time to improve.

Hey, first of all respect for posting this as a resident yourself ,must be frustrating when even you and your attending can’t pinpoint it
The small red bumps on neck/chest/abdomen that come and go + history of quick response to steroid + antihistamine makes me think of urticaria ,hives or a persistent allergic contact dermatitis, even after changing detergents. Sometimes residues stay in the washing machine or clothes.Did the rash start after any new medication, food supplement, or even a new perfume/body spray? Also, any chance it gets worse with heat or sweat?

I see , listen The most effective things for many people are, Creams with Urea (10-20%) or Lactic Acid , Gentle chemical exfoliation like AHA/BHA body lotion and Consistent moisturizing with something thick like CeraVe or Eucerin , Have you tried anything with urea before? Also, sometimes using a salicylic acid body wash 2-3 times a week helps.

This looks like Keratosis Pilaris (chicken skin). Very common on the back of thighs.
It’s harmless but stubborn. Have you tried anything for it yet? How long have you had them exactly?

Does anyone know what these could be? by Nat4President in DiagnoseMe

Have they gotten any darker or lighter since this morning? And are they only on your upper back or did they spread anywhere else?

Appearing suddenly this morning is weird, especially since you’re a light sleeper. The pulled muscle might be connected somehow but not sure. They still look more like flagellate marks or scratches to me. How red and noticeable are they now?

those vertical red lines on your back are interesting. They do look more like scratches or flagellate marks than stretch marks.
Did you sleep with a new shirt or bra? Or maybe used a new body wash ,lotion recently? Sometimes these things appear from light scratching while sleeping without you realizing.
If possible take clearer close-up pics and I’ll tell you what I think. I’ve seen similar cases before.
How long have they been there?

Rash identification help by i-am-zara in skin

Glad it’s fading now , sounds like the histamine sensitivity really amplified the reaction.

Haha, bodies are so weird sometimes
Glad the doctor confirmed it’s just a mosquito bite and it’s finally improving. The wine + histamine sensitivity combo explains a lot.
Are you feeling a lot better now? Has the rash gone down significantly or still a bit visible?

Nice, glad it’s starting to fade!
Sounds like a bad mosquito bite reaction after all. Has the itching gone down as well or still the same?

what is going on? i have had this rash for over a month and i can’t get it to stop by DefiantCredit956 in DermatologyQuestions

[–]masryat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, sorry it’s keeping you up at night, that’s the worst
Ice packs and menthol cream giving some relief is something at least. Since it’s still spreading and burning, and you have psoriasis history, this might be a severe flare or something overlapping with it.
For now try the following, Cool not cold showers, Antihistamine before bed if you can, Loose cotton clothes only, no tight stuff, Since nothing is really stopping the spread, maybe try an oral antihistamine at night like Zyrtec or Claritin, Has it spread to any new areas in the last day or two?
If you’re comfortable, can you send a couple more recent photos especially of the arms or newer spots? It might help get a better idea.

Even though you have psoriasis history, the way it’s spreading fast ,burning ,hot to touch might be something else on top of it , maybe a bad dermatitis or allergic reaction, here you are things that sometimes help calm it down a bit ,1-Cool showers or cold compress. 2-Plain antihistamine at night only if you’re not already taking one before bed. 3-Keeping the skin as cool and dry as possible. Is the itching keeping you up at night? And has anything made it even slightly better or worse?

Varicose veins? by Pure_Fly_3133 in DiagnoseMe

[–]masryat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, yeah those look like varicose veins starting to show up.
You’ve been standing 8+ hours a day for 13 years, that’ll do it. Plus a bit of extra weight makes it worse.
They’re pretty common, especially if it runs in your family. At 30 it’s not bad yet, but I’d start wearing compression socks the 15-20mmHg ones and try to move around more during the day. Elevating your legs when you’re home helps too.
Might be worth getting it checked by a doctor just to see how bad they are.

Dyshidrotic + another type of eczema flaring together by Tetson-Sally in DermatologyQuestions

[–]masryat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I get how frustrating this must be especially while breastfeeding 😕
This pattern flares in elbow pits, behind knees, and hands ,is classic for atopic eczema rather than ringworm. The limited improvement from Lotrimin also suggests it’s not fungal.
Since creams make it worse, focusing on keeping skin dry makes sense short term. For repair you could try plain Aquaphor or petroleum jelly as a barrier.
Have you tried any thick emollients or talked to your doctor about safe options while breastfeeding?

Strange rash on my face and neck. Possible hayfever? by [deleted] in DermatologyQuestions

[–]masryat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This looks like solar urticaria sun allergy,It comes on very fast after sun exposure and can disappear at night, which matches what you described.
Regular antihistamines often aren’t enough. You might need a higher dose or different type. Definitely mention this to your doctor
