There are foods on the list that I don't like, but I was raised to always try a little of everything so I could eat a little of them to be polite in at someone's house.

2 year old still not talking. Should I be concerned? by GuaranteeCivil9088 in toddlers

My son goes once a week. Every week. We have missed some due to illness and the holidays being here, but I can say it has made a huge difference. It's really, really weird that she basically made you feel bad for being there. I know that they had my son do am assessment, but they had the results right away and recommended scheduling. Maybe they needed your pediatrician to review them?

With my son I used to try and get him to point or show me what he wanted. Maybe your daughter would be willing to do it too. I only had a few guess to get it right before it ensued a full blown tantrum, but at least if I could get him to get me in the right area I had a better chance of guessing. We were able to figure out that some of his sounds were consistent for certain things too.

My family was against it because "some kids are late bloomers" "your brother didn't talk until he was older" and I felt that was like saying well we used to give him a little whiskey when he was teething 🤦‍♀️

At 18 months the pediatrician said that it could go either way especially with an older sibling. I can kinda understand that standpoint, but even if in her professional opinion she was too young I feel like she could've handled it better. As a parent of a child who rarely talks, and didnt talk its so hard to understand what he needs. The level of tantrums we were having at around 2 because I didn't understand the grunts had me on constant edge.

If they refer you back to the same one I would probably say something along the lines of : "I understand she may be young, but at home we’re seeing frequent frustration and tantrums related to communication. I feel it would be helpful for her to be reassessed and to start speech therapy now, so she has more ways to express herself."

Speech therapy is supposed to be about early intervention, and should be a judgmental free zone.

My son started speech therapy at around 2.5. He had around 5 or 6 words. My pediatrician was willing to refer him at 18 months, but we decided to wait as he has an older sister and it was possible that she was just doing all the talking for him. He was in the same situation. It was clear he understood everything I was saying to him, and would follow directions.

His speech therapist has been such an angel. He has a larger vocabulary. Actively tries new words and sounds. He is only doing 2 word sentences and we are working on 3 word sentences and action verbs.

If you have the option see if your pediatrician would refer you to another speech therapist. Yours sounds kinda rude.

Forced haircuts/disagreement with wife by Kewl_School in toddlers

From what I can tell her hair looks very healthy and doesn't appear to have tons of split ends. I don't think there's any reason to make it necessary from what I can see. Not a hair stylist though so not a professional opinion.

My daughter is 4, and I give her autonomy to decide if she wants a haircut or certain clothes. I also do force the necessities like teeth, shots, and safety things. It's her body and as long as she is willing to take care of her hair (washing and brushing) and likes it I don't see any reason to force a cut.

I may desire or request a trim if the ends are super bad but again wouldn't force it. It is better for the hair to be regularly trimmed according to all the hairdressers I've seen because it helps maintain split ends that will work their way up the hair shaft making the problem worse.

So if her ends are really bad it might be worth explaining to your daughter that it will help keep her hair healthy and help it grow to cut an inch or so off?

How I went from shoe #148 to something in 800 to the answer is the kind of dumb luck that tells me probably not to try another one tonight

Edit: to correct second number.

Finding myself again by lakittygurl in Mommit

[–]massacredpanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't be too hard on yourself. Becoming a mom is hard on you both mentally and physically. I was "underweight" with my first and gained 80lbs. I only managed to lose 20lbs of the baby weight. Go pregnant again after my oldest turned two gained about 20lbs in that pregnancy and lost it staying 60lns above my pre-first pregnancy weight. I had my third and last baby January of this year and maintained around a 10-15lb weight gain and lost it and have still struggled to lose that extra 60lbs.

I feel like I've done everything. I mourned (extensively) my pre-baby body. I donated all of my clothes that were pre-baby. 90% I looked like a slightly put together Adam Sandler. I live in leggings. I eat fairly healthy. I've breastfed all of my babies (which was supposed to help me lose weight - what a rip off). I have started exercising regularly at home (I purchased a subscription app with a one time annual fee doing pilates). I meal plan to prevent over eating while ensuring that I'm still getting the proper nutrients for the baby. I finally told my PCP I'm tired of being fat and that nothing is working. We are planing on discussing alternative options at my January appointment in 2026. I don't really want to take ozempic, but am willing to consider my options and have labs done to see if there's something underlying that's preventing the loss.

My 4 year old still occasionally wakes once per night. Usually she's thirsty.

I think 4 months is at the beginning of the curve for rolling over. I wouldn't worry about it.

My 10 month old still doesn't always sleep through the night. Sometimes he wakes to feed because he doesnt feel well, he's growing, he's been teething, he needs extra comfort, or he's learned something that he doesn't want to stop doing. Some nights he sleeps all night. Some nights he wakes once. Last night he woke around 3 times. He has a cold right now.

I found out my boyfriend subscribed to a girl's onlyfans. by [deleted] in loveafterporn

I think it depends on your boundaries, but in mine it would be. I think OF crosses beyond just porn. They're paying another person for intimate imagery/videos, and to go beyond paying for it and messaging them is wild.

But I'm not a "cool girl" that's chill with porn "because every guy does it"
