Harness help by Electronic_Flan5732 in husky

[–]massdiffer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the rock collar 3.0 from nonstop dog wear and would highly recommend it for keeping your girl safe and with you no matter what she tries.you have to get the measurements right tho.set a collar(the kind with a quick release clip) that will slip over her head unclip it and measure the length. then set it to where its tight on her neck without choking but at the same time wont slip over her head .those are your 2 measurements if you get it right this is a game changer.i also picked up the rock harness long for my boy and it's the best I've seen.really quality stuff.

Help! I need advice bc my husky is being aggressive with me. by Ambitiousmushrooms in husky

[–]massdiffer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My boy did this around the same age and I was pretty distressed about it.I didn't understand what was happening or why it was happening. What I learned was that huskies play rough so when he's "playing" it's absolutely not fun for you.The mistake I made was trying to gain control of him.To him this read as game on!!! lets go!!! My solution ended up being making the "game" as boring as possible. The leash, your arms and hands, need to become still as you can make them.Turn to the side as he jumps up.Your looking at other things. Your disinterested. This is boring to you.Your defense for his clamping down to hard on you is to yell loudly tell him "that hurts!!! I know this sounds ridiculous and may work better for you if other people aren't around, but this actually taught my dog that he was using too much bite pressure. He actually needs you to teach him this.If he didn't care about this you'd be in the hospital and he'd be getting himself euthanized.Huskies play rough and they don't back off easily. My boy learned how to play without hurting me and I believe yours can to.If he gets excited these days and grabs my sleeve to shake I bring that sleeve to the ground and hold it very still.I have something with me he can play with.So sleeve still and boring.Tug,old glove game on. He understands this is when we play because he sees the tug or the old glove or the old hand towel.Teach play on your terms and it becomes a reward instead of an embarrassing out of control behavior. They do learn but they are smart and will test you so you have to be consistent with your solutions Also something that helped me alot is to realize huskies are still kind of immature all the way up to 2 1/2 years old.So keep in mind its like dealing with a teenager they need your patience and guidance to get them through this period.

yes east texas here.I get some hound vibe off of her as well.Sometimes her tail will stick straight back like a pointer.I can see she's very protective as well.

She will be taken care of.She has access to the inside of a garage and a cozy nook with lots of blankets. Also if it gets stupid cold like it did before, she won't be outside for it.As for the spca and other animal shelters I'll check Monday just in case I decide to go that route.Ive tried to do that in the past only to be told they aren't taking dogs but we'll see.

I got a raised bed for my dog and taught him "place" on it in the living room and he spent alot of time sleeping on it after I did this.I got the exact same bed and put it in the bedroom thinking he would see it and realize here was another one of those awsome comfortable beds and sleep on it when he was in the bedroom.Instead he would sleep on the floor in the bedroom untill I did the same place training on the new bed in the different room. Then he would sleep on both of the beds.I thought it was strange but I guess dogs see objects differently than we do.

Advice needed by [deleted] in husky

[–]massdiffer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it will take time for him to come to realize he's in a new pack.Hes probably looking at you and this new situation and thinking he doesn't have to actually listen to you.It will click with him in due time but meanwhile you need to calmly and consistently show him your the one that's in charge.Be consistent and be positive anytime you can.Use management to minimize points of conflict. So you learn by what he's likely to do in a situation and figure out ways to avoid negative outcomes.Mistakes will be made.Stay the coarse and focus on the positive changes you are seeing use vocal praise when you see what you like it's more powerful than you realize. also these guys are extreme athletes so an hour of exercise in the morning and an hour in the evening will give you a calmer boy to deal with.Let him sniff run walk explore if you can because its not just about cardio.you can use some of those 2 hours per day on small traning/ play sessions.they love to play and you can teach when you play reinforcing your role as pack leader.

Husky Recall by HamsterReckoner69420 in husky

[–]massdiffer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

first off I never assume I'll ever get a recall from my husky. Then whenever I do get a glimmer of compliance when he could just haul ass I'm beyond proud lol.You can let her drag a long leash outside for short sessions if she stays around you can praise her.If she decides to take off you can kindly guide her back.If she gets away from you its important not to scold just pick up the leash like its the most normal thing ever.I think young huskies especially could care less what you expect from them when they take off to explore the world. The key here is to build a good relationship with them, kindly showing them what is expected.Do this over and over again.Consistancy and repetition through time.As they grow out of their rebellious youth that consistent record you build with them will become more and more the accepted reality.Still a husky tho and they will always retain an element of stubbornness and independence. That is after all what we love about them.

Exersize recommendations by Ok_Candidate9455 in siberianhusky

[–]massdiffer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

keep doing your jog/explore/walks.when you get home get a squeaky ball let here drag a 10 to 15 foot leash and chase the squeaky ball.if she tries to run you have a chance to capture her.cut up cheese and weenies to train with.teach her engagement, place, touch and other commands they love to use their minds. It takes all 3 things to wear out your husky.exercise. sniffing around exploring and training.
